  Hey Gang,

We recieved this write up from a member of the local press community who happened to be at the Longhorn Show last Friday night!  -

Fort Worth’s Longhorn Saloon got real rootsy, and real street-corner-funky, and just plain energized last Friday night, courtesy of a super-hip, fresh sounding, dynamic new quartet bearing the name, Jonny the Saint and the Velvet Hand — Yeah, you had us with the band name’s cool reference to the Beatles White Album classic “velvet hand” lyrics from Happiness is a Warm Gun. Talk about old school endurance, these guys churned out original after original after original over easily more than 2 hours – barely stopping to take a between-tune swig from a longneck. It was a non-stop show the Boss (as in Bruuuuce) would have identified with, and applauded. Also notable about J.S.V.H. act is how seamlessly they wove in a smattering of covers (Stevie Miller’s always catchy Joker, the Allman Brothers immortal take on Statesboro Blues) into the fabric of the band’s originals. Since Jonny the Saint got the cowpokes of Cowtown’s Stockyards to nod their cowboy hats to the infectious beat, there’s no telling how well they’ll rock the house at their next gig, coming up this Saturday at C.J.’s in the Colony.  I highly suggest paying them a visit online at www.myspace.com/jonnythesaint "
