The Kite Runner was an eye-opening, poignant movie. I never realized what Afghanistan was like before the USSR invasion. They left it wrecked and desolate, ruining what was and, actually, leaving the Taliban to terrorize the Afghan people. .

Syriana has several plots going on at the same time but all involve Oil and the government in one way or the other. It helps to watch the special commentaries before watching the movie. It's relevant and, unfortunately, just the tip of the iceberg.

Apocolypto is a page turner of a movie. Some of it is difficult to watch but the desire of one man to get back to his family makes it well worth the journey. Man's inhumanity to man is legend. It is just more sophisticated now.
