Hello again everyone,
Let me just start out by saying that the last week has been nothing but good news for us and it's all because of the people who helped us throughout the past year and a half that we have been together as a band. A lot of the time when you play in a band, things can get a little redundant and seem like nothing is being accomplished. The past week, however has shown us that every little last bit counts and that when you work hard for something anything is possible.
This past Sunday 89X played the first song on our debut cd (Left in the Dark) on the 89X Homeboy Show. We really didn't think anybody would be tuned in but we thought wrong. Out of nowhere we got a bunch of calls from our friends and fans who were listening to us on the radio:]
Then, this past Thursday. We were informed that we were nominated in the Mt. Clemens Music Awards for "Best Overall Band and Cd of 2008". We attended the awards and to our surprise we took the award home. The Dial Tone's ( Fellow, Local Rock Band) Also took home an award for being the "Best Unique Sounding Band of 2008". Way to go guy's!
About an hour later, we got a call from our manager that we will be the spotlight band of the month in The Detroit Free Press which will be printed this Thursday! In the article, we discuss the time line of the band from beginning to present, upcoming shows, recent accomplishments and our goals for the future. They also asked about what the songs were about and the influences of our sound so if your free on Thursday morning... Pick up a Detroit Free Press issue and tell us what you think.
Last but not least... One other thing I mentioned in the article was our show on this coming Thursday, January 15th. We are headlining the BRICK 6 Festival at The Emerald Theater. This show is going to be off the wall. GREAT bands like The Cylinders and Pillar of Autumn will also be playing this event. We are headlining around 9 o'clock. I can't stress enough how cool and fun this show is going to be. The BRICK show's have always been amazing. Also, after the show we are having our official after party at The Hayloft until the wee hours of the morning. Save your ticket stub for free entry! Must be 18 and up.
So I guess that about covers everything that we have been up to lately. We are really looking forward to the rest of this winter and think that 2009 is going to be a great year. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing everybody who is coming out on the 15th at The Emerald.
Cheers!
Justin-
