Who Gives Kudos:

Thursday, January 22, 2009
first of all,id like to thank all of the friends and folk who have stayed in communication with me through out the past year and a half.

the point of this blog is to clear up something that i have thought about a lot lately.

i understand that the use of pop culture phenomenon like myspace, internet data bases, ebay, paypal ect are not in any way counterculture or revolutionary.
for that matter, neither is black metal, nor metal in general.fuck it,lets go all the way and say electric guitars, paying your power bill, record collecting, having a job , living in a city and anything else associated with consumerism and capitalism is in no way counter culture. but the reality is that we use the tools available at our disposal to convey a message. Im not particularly good at using technology(computers, the internet, ect),nor am i good at many other business related issues in the music industry, but one thing i am good at is being accessible to anyone who wishes to speak to me,not just about my work, beliefs and values, but about most anything.

every now and then i will see criticisms from some black metal elitists, or punker that thou shithead criticizing me and similarly minded folks for using tools such as myspace to spread our propaganda. so be it. i understand the hypocrisy that's inherent in using such tools, but i would rather make an ego sacrifice and show a bit of inconsistency with my values by using said tool, than sit idly by saying nothing, publishing nothing, and waiting for some one else to do the work for me by putting out my records, publicizing me ,ect.

I'm not here to have fans, to be mysterious,to be an elitist.I'm here to spread a concept, participate in a community, share music and share ideas with other people who find enjoyment in music and inspiration in the message of anarchism.if you dont like that, that's your right as an individual.

my right as an individual is to use everything within my power and grasp to spread the concepts that keep me feeling alive in a world of commodities, exploitation and bullshit internet elitism.
thank you for your time,
-A

Spreading the message is exactly what has been done. Music can be used as a weapon of propagand and the net helps us to spread it all over the world. Congrats, A.

I could not swear to this, but it seems to me that anyone saying using a computer is not being true to ones ideals is more fronting than anything else. We all negotiate with the society we live in, as you mentioned in order to spread your message you use the internet. In order to survive we have jobs. Well I think I am just repeating your point. What you have said is very true.

The only thing I don't understand is why you wouldn't want to have fans  ???   People to whom you spread your message and enjoy your music are your fans, are they not? Shit, I'm a fan. My point is, if you did it only for yourself, then you would not have this website.

I struggled with similar concepts although not from the same angle. I came to the same conclusions. Rewilding is a process. Community is a necessity. Fuck em. Do whats right for myself within the context of the totality.
