Photobucket

We have been intrigued by who inspires and challenges our readers, leading us to begin a photographic series called WE COULD BE HEROES, where we take a reader or a contributor and turn them into their Hero.

Using a team of stylists, make up artists and hairdressers, we transform them, then photograph them in a manner synonymous with their chosen person. Heroes so far have included Kraftwerk, Nick Cave, Madonna, Diana Ross, Divine, John Waters, Traci Lords and so many more.

Debuting in the N-Dubz edition, this idea has taken off and we are now looking to expand the idea until we have an exhibiton sized collection, which will then be shown in a London art gallery in early 2010.

If you want to apply, then COMMENT on this blog; tell us who you want to be!!! Your hero can be a modern figure or someone from history, it can even be a non-celebrity!! Just as long as there is a very good reason why you want to be this person, we're interested.

If you don't want to apply as a subject but are interested in joining one of the London or regional teams as a stylist, photographer, make up/hair stylist, email davide@disordermagazine.com

Anyone can apply! We will contact you via MySpace if you are successful.

Please note the following conditions:

* If you are not successful, this will be due to volume or the chosen Hero having already been photographed. Disorder reserves the right to refuse any applicant.

* The Heroes shoots will take place in London and other various cities in the UK throughout 2009. No transportation is provided for successful applicants.

*If you are under 16, you will need to be accompanied by parent or guardian on the shoot.

If i could be anyone i would be David Bowie during the Ziggy Stardust era, i remember my Dad buying his best of and it was the first CD i listen to religiously, i soon started buying his albums and after getting Aladdin Sane and hearing Cracked Actor it made me go out and buy a guitar.

Annie Lennox is my hero. There is no other female role model like her! She is an amazing musician with a beautiful voice who writes about real subjects and creates amazing pop songs! She plays with masculinity as female instead of using sex to sell her music and appeal to people.
She is bright and colourful and a real fashion icon.
I would be proud for people to see that I value her as a hero.

As i am currently aspiring to become a fashion designer, he has immensely inspired me. He continuously inspires the fashion industry with his avant-garde ideas that push all boundaries. I truly love his work, and his individual quirky personal style .
I would love to take part in this photographic series, i think it's a very fresh idea.
Thanks :) xx

Angelina Jolie 100%, managing her family, her career, but most importantly her charity work.
She had a turbulent childhood and was out of control at times, but she matured and used her status as a platform to change people lives. More people should be like that.

I'd want to be Richie Sambora, because he influenced me to pick up a guitar 5 years ago and has just generally been a hero of mine since i was 13 :D and he just looked cool in the 80s!

Alternatively, Slash, as he was also a huge influence on me...but ive already been him in a tribute band :p

This is a very intresting and fine chance!

I would like to be photographed as Marlon Brando. This is as he is an iconic part of Hollywood from the late 60's with A Streetcar Named Desire and On The Waterfront, through to The Godfather and Apocalypse Now. He is my all time favourite actor and it would be amazing to be photographed as him.

I hope i can be a part of this!

How do you solve a problem like Ryan?
Ryan Pendleton

I'd love to be Edward Cullen AKA Robert Pattinson.
The reason i'd love to be him, is because he represents the dream i have. Up until a certain point, he was a realative nobody, and then BOOM he became how we know him today. I like to dream that one day that'll happen to me, i'm a nobody right now, but one day i might just be a somebody, thats why i wanna be him, thats why he's my hero, because he is the epicentre of my hope and dream that i might be somebody.

Thanks for your time,
Ryan

I want to be Florence Welch because...
1) She's unafraid to have such a bold, unique style
2) She writes lyrics that could be taken away from the tune and still be both beautiful and deep
3) She has a bigger voice than British pop has heard in years and years
4) I've heard her described as "one part Debby Harry, one part Janis Joplin", and wouldn't we all want to be that?
5) 90% of my male friends think she's unbelievably beautiful

I would (nearly) Kill to be Grace Kelly. She's one of the most amazing women of the last century in so many ways. She's an effortless fashion icon, an amazing actress and an extremely independant woman that dealt with tabloid pressure in the most delicate manner. She's just plain fantastic!

Hello, my name is Olivia Pometsey and I would like to be Debbie Harry.
She is just one of those people that are effortlessly cool, and is most definately my idol. I love the way that even though she wasn't the best singer that ever lived, she's the best frontwoman that ever lived. Also the way that she rose to fame, I just think its amazing.
I look nothing like her, and how you'd transform me I don't know, but if you chose me I would be insanely happy.

Robert Smith, for being there since I was 13 years old, for having the sweetest voice heard, and giving me the oppurtunity to see two of my favourite bands at Madison Square last year by discovering 65dos and giving them the support slot.

Being female would make the transformation an exciting challenge!

I would love to be the singer and songwriter Delta Goodrem. This is because she is such an inspiring woman, at 18 she was diagnosed with cancer and over came it in the public eye going on to release another two albums both of which were extremely successful.

She is also the only reason I play the piano. At age 13 I saw a video of her performing and wanted to be just like her in every way. She is so talented writing her songs and singing them as well as playing piano for them!

I managed to meet her in New York and was blown away by how incredibly nice she was. Not only to me but to all her fans, and the fact she now actively supports so many cancer charities just shows that she is using her experience to help others.

I want to be Delta Goodrem because she is an all around amazing person, talented and kind and I want to be Delta Goodrem because she has inspired me in so many ways for 6 years now. She has been my only true hero and if I could become her for even just a day it would be a 6 year dream come true!

Hi there. I'm Gaby.

My hero has to be Britney Spears. Although I prefer many other musicians and their music, Britney Spears has undoubtedly managed to inspire me by teaching me to be strong. She is a person that has been in the spot light from a very early age; this means that she has been in the public eye for a very long time, trying to keep her dignity and descretion, and yes, she has failed during many occasions, but in the end she got back up and tried to put it behind her. Her family life, her career, her love life and even her life has been in danger but she got through it. This has shown me that no matter how big my problem is or how many nosey people know about my problems, I can always try toget over it, put it in the past and jusy try and move on!

my hero is Yannis Philippakis.

he plays lead-vocals and guitar in a math-rock, dance/punk band called the foals, and he's sick. this bloke made me play guitar again and therefore found me something cool to do in my life. i've seen this band play several times before they got really big, and they completly introduced me to a new era of music i had never heard of. in a BBC 6 hub session interview Philippakis expressed his desire to write 'Ballet with beats'. that's math-rock for you. i'm pretty much sure that a lot of bands that are big today would sound a lot differently if earth didn't have foals.

so apart from the music he is actually safe because he's interested in shorts stories, and art, (which i enjoy a lot, i take a double gcse course in), and going back to the music, (he IS a musician), his lyrics are so far out, they let you decide what the song means, and they're minimalist.

anyway, you don't have to stick me on, i'm not a model anyway, but peace, and nice idea you've got going.
