Hola, All!

The fourth annual URB ALT Festival travels to The Harlem School of the Arts tonight (6/24) for hip visual arts exhibitions, music/3d animation workshops, a book reading and live music. The event is FREE featuring exciting alternative artists from various forms of media including award-winning author/journalist/radio host/tv commentator Farai Chideya, reading from "Kiss the Sky," her new rock music novel; light bending alternative arts photographer Ed Marshall; Art Battles winner and live art painter Marthalicia Matarrita; light bending photographer Ed Marshall; and 3d/2d animator/filmmaker/conceptual designer Tim Fielder among others. This is our first URB ALT Festival art exhibit/book reading in NYC which allows us to put even more emphasis on the visual arts and literature. We're also pretty hyped to be presenting a musical performance by Nigerian folk/soul chanteuse/experimental filmmaker Kaneng Lolang and the MuthaWit Orchestra.
MuthaWit Orchestra will be improvising live music as Farai Chideya reads selected excerpts from "Kiss The Sky." The story tracks the life of Sophie “Sky” Lee, a thirtysomething black rock musician making an inspiring comeback in New York City in 2000...but with some serious obstacles to her plans.
We're still collecting emails and business cards for the Daisy Rock Guitar giveaway at the URB ALT Festival Finale on June 27. Make sure that you have a chance to win!
See you tonight at The Harlem School of the Arts
