It has been 2 years since that tragic day in September. Each day has
been a fight for life and to restore dignity fueled by hope and prayers. Now
that we have turned the corner from the critical moments that dominated the
past two years we turn our efforts towards Chris’s treatment and ongoing physical
therapy.....
The O.P.T.A Challenge:
What is O.P.T.A? Orthopedic
Physical Therapy & Associates.
“The mission of Orthopedic Physical Therapy & Associates is to help
our patients reach the maximum potential for their individual physical needs
and abilities.”
.. ..
The staffs of O.P.T.A have been miracle workers. They respect the person
and musician that Chris is with tailored exercises that include his bass. Creating
a program that is customized to Chris’s needs improving his balance, strength, breathing,
mobility and functionality. It has been essential in helping his rehabilitation
and helping avoid the pitfalls that plagued the last two years.....
The O.
P. T.A Challenge....
O.P.T.A has a progressive strategy for Chris’s recovery. In the banging
the physical strain of the therapy made it only possible to participate once a
week for a 1 hour session ($75.00). As Chris gets stronger they are able to add
more activities and therapy sessions this equals more skills that lead to more
independence. Chris is now going to therapy twice a week.
Our goal is to have Chris getting therapy three times a week by years end
and have that funded for 2010.
As necessary and as successful the therapy has been, it is not covered by
insurance all sessions must be paid for out of pocket. Funds raised by the two events will go
directly towards the cost of physical therapy.
