So somewhere on the road during the midwest tour-- maybe in Madison WI while a packed room was jumping during my set, or maybe in St Paul MN when I told the pretty much non-existant crowd to go fuck themselves in the middle of my set while i smoked a cigarette(still selling 3 or 4 cds), or maybe at the rest areas in Iowa, which convieniently all are equiped with wi-fi... I contemplated taking a break.
I've been doing this for about a year and a half now, and I've booked some pretty decent shows without ever having any kind of press or reviews in any types of magazines, newspapers, etc.
I'm also pretty broke.
Not from touring or anything like that, just from personal issues I'd prefer not to discuss.
girlsrisewithHEAT won't be touring for a while until all of my debts are paid off, and I finally get this first FULL LENGTH album to you people.
Unfortunatly, the 1814 box I use to record my songs with, AND to play live shows with was broken at a house party on this last Midwest tour I did.
The funny thing is I didn't break it.
This is also going to set me back a while.
So if you guys really want girlsrisewithHEAT back on tour again in your city, tell all your friends to go to girlsrisewithheat.net and buy danse kassette danse kaskette, my 5 song EP that comes with a bunch of free shit.
Just so all of you know, girlsrisewithHEAT is a complete indie national act. For those of you who are not familiar with the term "indie", it means I do everything out of MY OWN pocket, and I hardly get paid shit from clubs to play shows for you. I also live alone, have no roomate, work part time, go to school, and have chosen to starve rather than not play shows before... If that doesn't show you some hard work and dedication, I don't know what will. So, now that I've shown you some love, give some back.
Also, while I'm taking the time to post this, I want to thank some close friends and bands that have helped me boost my popularity status a little bit. Thanks to Jeff and Jess from Hyperbubble for the support and booking my first major show ever, Jason from Rizatek for showing me the city of my dreams and believing in my music so much, Femme Fatality--Brad, I've watched you guys grow in popularity, and i know youre completelty indie--it's somewhat of an inspiration for me, and Kevin-- you're a fucking crazy party machine, Polarized Mind - thanks for that hotel room in fucking Lovelock NV on our way to Salt Lake city after I fell asleep at the wheel 2 times and spent my last dollar for food and gas on chains for my tires to get through donners pass in March to play a 12 minute set at the Kilby Court on St. Patricks Day (I drove straight to Denver CO that night after the show, alone, 3 hours of sleep the night before, hallucinating the rest of the way there after those fuckers didn't pay us.)... Thanks to the guys in Faux Fox for being cool as fuck, and being my favorite local band, JoshaA from Denton for hooking me up with some great shows, the kids from the Fleshbots for showing me some ATL hospitality, my fans in Desert Hills/Anthem AZ, Sam for the awesome pictures, Corey from A Vague Sound for hooking up some sick shows, Gio for becoming one of my best friends and favorite artists of all time, and just everyone that has done anything for me. Most of all, thanks to my fans--without you, it's not even possible.
I'll be back soon. Keep checking my space for new album demos, local shows, recordings, and tons of free shit.
