It's always sad, and kind of pathetic, when anyone over the age of 10 pulls that sort of behavior. Even figuratively, it signifies an unwillingness to understand something altogether alien to your being.
I've been battling with a 60+ year old woman who seems to have her hands fused to her ears. Her way is the only way. She is the only one capable of even the menial tasks (dishes, laundry), and is suspicious of knowledge pertaining to things outside of her span of attention. Naturally, she has to be related to someone I love very much. Life just wouldn't be interesting any other way, would it?
I had written her out of my life after a failed attempt to please Her Royal Highness with a long-distance move. No. I cannot have the final say, apparently.
She wants $40 to pay for a box of things she shipped me from said failed move. It was a box filled with presents I had given her, some years ago. So not only is she rude and ungreatful, but an awful hustler to boot. I did not ask her to ship this junk to me; she did it on her own. By that twisted logic, she owes me a little bit of cash for the cost of uprooting my entire self and living with her.
I refuse to genuflect, and it always gets me in trouble.
