Some of you may have seen this profile picture in the past. Some of you may know who this wonderful dog is. Some of you also know how much this dog had meant to me, her family, and friends. This dog was the most precious, gentle, loving, caring dog that I have ever met. She meant the world to many people.
This blog tears at my heart to write, as I write today to inform you that on November 13, 2007, Penny and her mate Rudy were maliciously killed by a person that had no honorable reason to do so. These two dogs were running through a neighboring corn field as they love to do. They were running at least 40 yards away in the opposite direction of a man who claims that they looked vicious. I am puzzled by this as they weren't even on his property, were running away from him, and he even knew the character of these dogs. These two dogs are very well known in the area (Foley) by all neighbors, and know how loving they are. Every child loved them, every neighbor loved them, their whole church loved them. This man decided to not even think about the heartache it would cause a whole community, and beyond, when he decided to pull the trigger and kill them both as they were on there way back to their farm, their home.
Not only did he pull the trigger and instantly kill Rudy, but he left Penny to suffer until a police officer showed up and had to put her out of her misery. What kind of human being could you be to not only kill a part of someones family, but to let them lay and suffer?
The whole cummunity, family, and friends are showing their support. The milk man has offered money for lawyers fees, , flowers are overflowing their grave, memorials are being put into the papers.
The supervisor of the police department is wanting to 'drop' the case as it's not a big issue. I beg to differ with him, as well as many others.
The family has asked anyone to please write a letter, email, place a call to the County Attorney Robert J Raupp to let him know this is not ok. We need to keep this case open, we need some justice! We all know that Karma does come around, but we also need to prove a point. This man deserves to know what heartache he has caused so many people.
If you could, please take a minute to send something to him. Whether you knew Penny or not, just saying something as simple as asking to relook at the case, to not allow it to be dropped or forgotten, as this is a case of animal cruelty. This is a malicious mischeif act that will not be tolerated anywhere.

UPDATE: PLEASE BE AWARE THAT HE MAY CLAIM THAT HE IS NOT AWARE OF THE CASE. THIS MAY BECAUSE HE DOES NOT HAVE THE FILE ON HAND AND DOES NOT WANT TO SAY ANYTHING UNTIL HE KNOWS THE WHOLE STORY.

I THOUGHT I WOULD UPDATE YOU ON THE STATUS OF THIS CASE. THAT FIRST WEEK, THE COUNTY ATTORNEY HAD AROUND 100 EMAILS, PHONE CALLS, AND LETTERS. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THOSE WHO WAS A PART OF THAT.
THE REPORT HAS BEEN REVIEWED BY THE ATTORNEY, SENT BACK FOR MORE INFORMATION, AND WAS TOLD HE HAS RECEIVED IT BACK AND IS LOOKING INTO IT AGAIN.
THE FAMILY HAS RECEIVED TREMENDOUS SUPPORT FROM FAMILIY, FRIENDS, AND STRANGERS! WITHOUT GOING INTO DETAIL AS TO NOT JEOPARDIZE THE CASE, I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT THEY WILL PAY FOR THIS (IN SOME WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM).
THE NEED IS NOT OVER THOUGH. WE WANT TO KEEP THE INTEREST ALIVE, SO IF YOU HAVE A SPARE MOMENT TO SEND A QUICK EMAIL ENCOURAGING HIM TO DO EVERYTHING HE CAN FOR THIS CASE, IT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!
