The Great Divide

Sometimes it is a blur,
that point in time
when arguments become
explosive confrontations.
Anger starts passing judgment
and in the surge of emotional torrents --
the moment of clarity is lost.
We create the great divide,
cemented by our foolish pride.

Outstanding message here, Dodinsky. So often, people cross the line, and are under the misconception it feels good doing so. In reality, they are only driving wedges, and a person intent on creating such obstacles is rarely a person that will take the necessary measures to repair the damage done.

Really glad to see you post this one, Sir!

Hi Dodi, Changed my profile picture but it's still me.
Your analogy of pride being like cement holds more meaning than some may see or feel,
but it holds great meaning to me dear freind.

This poem, to me, really speaks to how prideful anger does indeed create guargantuan rifes in our emotional and spiritual presence.  This was so insightful of you...Thanks for the sharing of it...

Great words Dodi. Pride and ego are such detriments to human relations. And yet...we are HUMAN. To overcome these inherent attributes is such a challenge!!

That is amazing! I want to print it and make a huge poster to hang in my living room.  I have a constant struggle trying to teach my kids, lil brother and nephews to mind the way they speak to each other. It has been one of the hardest things to teach but I think they are finally beginning to understand. I am only sorry it took loosing the relationship with my lil brother. i raised him like one of my own children and i miss him so much. Once we have created the great divide it is hard to mend.
Thanks Dodinsky. You are always an inspiration to me

Hi Dodi! I am sorry it has been forever since I have made it this way! I have missed your words of wisdom! :)  I am finally starting to write again... been a while!  Wow, this one couldn't have hit any closer to home- it reminded me of the power struggle I had with my 8 year old last night, when he refused to go to bed (He wanted big brother to go to bed at the same time)- Over tired, stubborness- and pride- got in the way of a lot of things!  Great write!! Hugs ~K~

Yet all of these things in and of themselves do not turn to war, nay for Anger itself subsides, it is a powerless thing unless it is fueled by Greed, Lust, Sloth and those other deadly sins. Yet we misunderstand them, we fail to understand that Anger in and of itself is not a true human trait.

If only we could learn to overcome our unnecessary greed, then perhaps there could be peace in this world and peace in our hearts.

People deal with argument, frustration and anger in different ways. That moment where the reasoning inside beaks is when you've been pushed too far. At that point, it is best to turn away and and walk away just in time before you snap.

That moment of the breaking point is a good muse, as you've so amazingly, once again, described. You've got hat moment perfectly.

Thank you.

no truer word is spoken...that pride can turn your solid state humanity into particulate atoms and demoralize a herd of demons....god knows why we do it or let it happen to us....so much is lost when we open our mouth without consideration for the whole and/or the other....thank you for creating a stage for accountability with your poetry...love and peace...ramonalisa
