Albany Times Union's music columnist Greg Haymes, asked Tim Livingston from The Last Conspirators what he thought the best Capital Region concert/club show of 2008 was. Tim had this to say: "Sometimes it's more of a moment. Like earlier this fall walking into a downtown club to witness that "real" rock and roll does live in Albany! Bands that I have seen this year like Blackcat Elliot, Big Frank and others, slugging it out in the clubs, keeping it alive. These local artists deserve larger audiences." –

CAPITAL REGION GARAGE ROCK BAND, BLACKCAT ELLIOT, TO HAVE MUSIC FEATURED IN US OLYMPIAN’S SKI FILM.
ALBANY, NY (January 30, 2009) – Blackcat Elliot, one of the Capital Region’s premiere garage rock bands, has had two songs selected from its sophomore album, “Never Come Clean” to be featured in US Olympian and Ski filmaker, Andrew Newell’s latest film project “A Day in the Life”.
Since the early 90’s, Newell, a top-ranked cross country nordic ski racer and member of the US Ski Team, has been producing nordic ski racing films under his own label X Ski Films. These films showcase international cross country ski competitions, as well as Newell’s own freestyle ski jumping skills.
With two films under his belt, “American Skier” and “Generation X-Ski”, Newell turns to Blackcat Elliot’s for help with the soundtrack. These two songs, “Never Come Clean” and “Send Her to Me” bring a familiar Rock-n-Roll edge to his third film, which will showcase the Dusseldorf World Cup in Germany, a premiere race on the World Cup circuit that attracts more than 100,000 fans.
“I first came across Blackcat Elliot’s music on cdbaby.com, said Newell. “All our films represent the Rock-n-Roll side of our sport, so we only use high energy ‘real’ rock music, like Blackcat Elliot’s, in our films. It’s this type of music that helps solidify our image in the international skiing world and keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat the entire movie.”
Newell’s films, seen by ski fans and competitors around the world, are being used to get the US excited about cross country skiing. Like previous films, “A Day in the Life”, with the help of Blackcat Elliot’s music, will help inspire the US skiers before competitions and get US fans excited about the sport.
“We’re honored to have our music featured in this film,” said Gus Hais, lead singer and guitarist of Blackcat Elliot. “It’s exciting to know that our music is going to be heard around the world and will help get US athletes pumped up before international competitions.”
