Hi Kids. I'm Brandon from theAdores ...

The 946 Sessions is theAdores' first recording in the known world. Truth be told The 946 Sessions was many years in the making well before CD and myself occupied the residency at 946 Maitland St. in London, Ontario, which we named the album (or demo) after. Friends from high school in Niagara, we ended up at, or back at, UWO for the 2006/07 academic year and made recording an album's worth of collective material a springtime goal. We sorted and compiled and wrote and rewrote songs. You know, old ones, new ones, unfinished ones, kinda finished ones, etc. and what we ended up with was thirteen songs recorded over the course of about six hours. The recording features Eddie Dupont on keyboard and vocals and on 'If We Were Stars' he plays one of those colorful blowhorn devices you find at sporting events. His was blue. Still is I reckon. The drums on the album were primarily done by our good friend Ian MacKay and we can't thank Ian enough for lending his talents. Huuuu. Ted Peacock, our producer, also played on one track. Great meter. Great guy. I played drums on 'Salvation'. Basically Ted came in and set up shop, we fed him buttertarts from Sullivan's Market across the street and in one afternoon the four of us jammed our way through the songs you hear on this page. Later we edited briefly and did a vocal track or two over at Ed & Carla's old place in Waterloo. But don't worry, they still live close. CD and I now perform these songs live with Eddie and fellow Wellander and Artist-at-Large Mr. Bobby Avalon. Some people call him Bobby. Or Goodall. It's Bobby Avalon. Don't get smart Eddie.

We've used The 946 Sessions at gigs to get our sound out into the public. A few copies sold. Bob did the artwork and CD typed individual messages into the inside bit on a typewriter. I don't even know what that is! Nick joined us on the hidden track. I'll give you a hint: Sunshine. We have cool buttons too. My girlfriend's sister made those. If you want one, let us know. Mostly Bob makes wicked cool photocopied original art for the gigs and we bring pencil crayons for you to color inside or outside the lines. Up to you really. We're happy you're even reading this.

Welcome friends ... We are theAdores.

I figure we just need to extend our circle of friends across Canada to have 'made it big' and sites like myspace definitely allow us to get our music out. So be patient and mention our name and maybe we'll be able to sustain this little outfit of ours throughout the course of our lives. It's fun. It's what music is meant to be made for: sharing.

We also belong to a larger music community which sees us lend talents to other projects. 'A Sea of Gold & Burgundy' is a project featuring our good friends Nate and Berger. They'll have a site up and running soon we hope. And so will we. A website.

theadores.com is ours ... hassle Diego to get it running.

Welcome to 2008.
May this year be one of love and respect.

Peace,
brandon (via theAdores)
