Mosie Lister and Providence Road Appear in Homecoming Magazine

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NASHVILLE, TN (February 26, 2009) – Mosie Lister and Providence Road will both appear in the March / April issue of Homecoming Magazine, one of the favorite magazines of southern gospel music lovers.

Over the years, many of Lister’s songs have become household and church favorites, such as Where No One Stands Alone, Goodbye World Goodbye, Til The Storm Passes By, Feelin’ Mighty Fine and Then I Met The Master.  In this issue, Homecoming’s Joy MacKenzie reveals some wonderful stories about Lister’s life, what inspired him to follow the Lord’s call to write music and how he assisted in developing the memorable sounds of several major quartets. Lister has spent over 60 years writing music full-time, has had three of his songs recorded by Elvis Presley, and countless others recorded by gospel groups the world over.  He is still writing and making special appearances at events, and has no plans for retirement.

Family also plays a key role in Lister’s life.  At 87 years of age, Lister enjoys seeing his family follow in his footsteps in gospel music.  Lister’s granddaughter, Laura Sue Brod formed the all-female trio Providence Road, and recently sat down with Homecoming’s Sue Buchanan to discuss some memorable moments both with her grandfather and with the group.  She also shared how Providence Road values their heritage and has kept things “in the family” by recording songs both by Lister and by Lister’s daughter, Barbara Lister Williams.  Providence Road recorded seven of Lister’s songs and three of Williams’ songs on their debut album.  The trio is currently working on a new album, which will also feature songs by Williams and Lister.
