40 bands join together for prehistoric cd release.
Over 200 Southampton musicians have joined forces to energise the local music scene by showcasing their best tracks.
‘JURASSIC MARK: VOLUME 1’ is a 2-disc CD with songs by 40 bands that is being given away free in the city on the 7th of March simply to promote the talent and skill Southampton bands have to offer.
The 2-disc CD is the brainchild of Southampton musician/promoter/dinosaur hunter Ben Dlugokecki who helps run ‘Jurassic Mark’, a music showcase of local acts held weekly at the Talking Heads music venue in Portswood.
“This is the best songs by 40 bands across Southampton, but there are well over 150 great bands in the city” Ben says. “We have such a fantastic music scene, but there are many people who don’t come out and listen to live music. We want people to hear our songs and this seamed a great way of introducing people to our music”
The CD is being launched on the 6th of March at the Talking Heads with nearly ALL the bands gathering for a few drinks, a massive photo shoot and then a party! Then there will be a showcase of 5 of the bands and a DJ.
