Big Event Music
The Rock School
For Performing Musicians
What's this Rock School thing all about?
At Big Event Music the Rock School Program is based on musicianship, working with peers and a future in the music business. We accept students ages 10-17 and turn them into genuine rock stars.
My son/daughter has never played an instrument before. Can they still become a part of this?
Training both beginners and advanced students is what our teachers do best. We accept students at all experience levels. Beginners participate in the shows along side of more advanced students.
How does the school program work?
The program is roughly a four-month program.
Students receive 30 minute private lessons at our teaching facility for two months on the instrument of the their choice. In the third and fourth months, students will participate in a weekly 1-hour supervised rehearsal to prepare them for the main event, THE SHOW!
From time to time the Rock School Program will have special appearances from well known major band members to discuss life on the road and performance tips.
We find that through private lessons and group band practice with their peers is the best way to motivate kids to practice hard, overcome stage fright, and become great musicians. The kids will even pick their own band name.
Does my child have to own an instrument?
Of course we recommend owning an instrument, however many instruments we offer can be rented on a month-to-month (basis) or we can help you locate a used instrument.
Will there be more than one band?
Yes, depending on how many entries for this semester, we may have up to five bands. The bands will then go in front of judges to determine how the show line up will be.
How is the show promoted?
Currently we are working on local and major sponsors. The sponsors will include television, radio, instrument manufacturers and local newspapers.
We are planning on live radio interviews as well as public appearances. Recording studio time will also be included to help with promotion.
The Show.
The show will be held during August 2008 at a major venue in Hot Springs, AR. The sound system, lights and green room will be provided for the stars. We are currently working on a live video stream for the Internet. A live DVD will be offered as well as a www.youtube.com video.
Tuition cost.
We are currently constructing tuition prices. BEM will have these cost shortly.
