Who Gives Kudos:

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Here I sit.  It's freezing outside. No more short sleeves for the rest of the year! Welcome scarf collection and too many chai teas! I can't complain... fall/winter are my fav seasons.

A lot has changed recently. A LOT and I'm so happy about it.

The music industry is so strange to me. I've been watching my fair share of MTV and I surf other music channels... and I'm so... just wow. I am not in a boy band... and I definitely do not resemble a stripper! I prefer my playing my guitar and non-lip-syncing voice thankyouverymuch! :)

So *drumroll* I am back to being completely 100% indie. I ended my relationship with my management company. I realized that it would be more productive and better for my career as an indie musician (for now) to do it myself. It feels good to have my control back (not that I really lost it), but ending it was an extra boost and it gave me more confidence in doing music and in who I am.

On another note.. to other musicians (a recent trend I've heard about from my supporters is that musicians are dissing other musicians! WHAT?!): I respect all of the women trying hard to get their music out there! Some may be getting more recognition than others... but why not applaud them? I'm so proud of being a woman and I'm so happy for women who get the recognition they deserve in this male-dominated industry.

We all have different journeys, we've all connected with people who really follow through and help and sometimes we meet people with empty promises. Some times... it's just that "Right place at the right time" scenario, which sucks for others who have been maybe paying their dues for longer, but is so exciting for the other ones. But aside from that, we don't really know the depth of anyone else's journey-so who are we to judge if we may deserve it more than someone else?

REGARDLESS, we should be happy for all of those chicks working hard to get more indie female artists recognized on a larger scale! I am happy for all of you hard-working musicians. I support and respect you if you support and respect me! :) Simple. Lets just keep things positive! I may sound annoying in my quest for positive thinking... but I just don't understand and won't put up with any other state-of-mind that is just negative in every aspect.

WOOOOOO! So, aside from all of that random, but needed-to-be-said stuff... I'm super stoked that the T-shirts, New album, Stickers, Guitar Picks are all in the works. Creating all of this took sooo much money... more than what people realize. It takes a lot of hours at a day job to afford all of that fun stuff... so hopefully you'll like it all! HAHA :)

I'm a normal girl and I've got a normal life. I do music because I love it and because I want to evoke some change in this world. I don't measure my success based on  income, but rather, how many people can relate to what I write. Every comment and message that I get, is AMAZING to me. I'm very humbled by all of your help and goodness.

Thank you everyone for all of your sweet words. I'm working hard to spread my message of positive thinking, doing and feeling through song.

Somehow I know that if anyone is capable of making a huge success for themselves and on their own terms it would be you. I have always been impressed by your ambition, your drive and your outlook. Can't wait to one day meet you live and in person and hear those amazing songs of yours up close!

I've been thinking about some of the things too and have also decided to go completely indie!!! You're really smart for doing so as well.
Keep up the awesome music and check out mine if you get a chance.
