Hi Everyone,

Well the groups all flew to London last weekend.  On Sunday a huge meeting of styles and cultures took place as The Next Big Things 5 finalists from Iceland, UAE, France, Serbia and Kenya arrived at the legendary Maida Vale studios for the last stage of our global band contest for 2007.

The announcement was made yesterday; here, on the BBC website and on the airwaves...

The group hailed as The Next Big Thing in 2007 were YUNASI!!!

Arriving from Kenya, Yunasi put on a breathtaking performance which clearly wowed the all star-Jury including a combination of various percussive elements, vocals, an acordion and dance.  They brought some serious atmosphere to the studios at Maida Vale last Sunday...

Singing in several languages including Swahili, French, English, Kisii, Luo and Luhya and combining traditional East African influences with more contemporary sounds, the music of Yunasi is a fusion of all these elements.  Their unique East African style of music is described as "Sesube".
