Back in December it was intermission at The Wayne Sutton Show and I was talking in the garage with Daniel Barker who I hardly even knew at the time...  He was telling me about catching Billy Joe Shaver back in November with his brother at a place called Courville's in China, Texas...

He was telling me about a guy who opened up for Shaver on that night...  He couldn't remember the guy's name, but he told me that he had a pony tail and played these really great songs...  He was really impressed by this dude, whoever he was...  Then at the end of the night, he remembered and he told me the guy who had opened for Shaver was Matt Harlan...  Matt Harlan, I said to him, dude, I got Matt Harlan coming here on February 28, 2009 with The Front Porch Society...  Had it booked since July...  Also went on to tell him that I know, Matt Harlan is a really great singer/songwriter/guitar player, yeah, Matt Harlan has all the tools man...

Before that, in late September after Ike rolled through and destroyed so much for so many, I had agreed with David Olney to reschedule his November 08' show to March of '09, and due to those circumstances had a hole to fill in November, and I told Randy Hill of The Front Porch Society that if they wanted to, they could move their date up from 02/28/09 to 11/15/08...  He looked into it, and told me that Matt Harlan already had a gig that night...  He also told me that Matt had a new CD scheduled to be released in early '09, and that there was just no way that The Front Porch Society could do a show right now without Matt Harlan...  So we agreed to leave The Front Porch Society set for 02/28/09...  Which is coming right up, finally...

About a month ago I caught half of The Front Porch Society at their weekly gig on Thursdays at Pizzatola's BBQ at I-10 and Shepherd from 6-8, and was lucky enough to get a copy of Matt Harlan's not yet released CD from the man himself...  I didn't even start listening to it until this past Wednesday Night, but I haven't stopped listening to it yet, I'm listening to it right now, and will be listening to it again when it stops...  Hopefully we'll be able to buy these here on Saturday Night, but I'm not sure about the status on that and I'll let you know later in the week...  He said this copy is not "it", but really damn close, and this is a really great CD that I have on right now...

This coming Saturday Night, we'll be hearing these and many other great songs up in "the house" as The Front Porch Society finally makes their way in to play their own show here at Almost Austin where they have very unselfishly donated us a PA System for 10 of our last 11 shows...

I've probably seen these guys in some form or fashion about 25 times since last March, and man is this going to be a killer show when they play in "the house"...  You don't want to miss this one, as we will have a group of six musicians in "the house" to play for you, and this show will surely be taking some interesting twists and turns along the way, and will be a hell of a lot of fun...  Can't wait to see how this one plays out...

The Front Porch Society

is made up of:

Randy Hill

Nathan Taylor

Matt Harlan

Jimmy Pizzatola

Huke Green

Ben Hall

For those of you who are asking yourselves how we can put a group of this many guys on our stage here at Almost Austin, you'll have to show up and donate to find out...  I can tell you that we do know what we are doing here, we do have a few tricks up our sleeve, and that this one will be a hell of a lot of fun...  Go ahead and make those reservations at www.yourtexasmusic.com and while you are there, it's never too early to start thinking about David Olney and Sergio Webb coming up on March 21, 2009 as some people on this list already have been making their reservations for that one as well...

Live In Concert

Some Basic Facts About Almost Austin House Concerts

**The music begins at around 8PM, but the doors open at 6PM for what I've been told is a Killer Pot Luck Dinner...  The dinner is optional, but I highly recommend it...  If you can bring some little something that's great, but if you can't, don't let that stop you from partaking anyway...  Aside from the dinner, once the doors open you'll want to be here early to reserve the best seats**

**All shows are NON-SMOKING in the house...  You can smoke (cigarettes) in the garage, or in the backyard**

**All Shows Are BYOB**

**A $20 Donation is requested from everyone attending a show here...  100% of the take goes to the performers**

**Kids are welcome to attend shows here with their parents for a $10 Donation, provided that they remain seated quietly with their parents throughout the performance**
