..In January, Kensington Books released my first novel, Code of Conduct, about a group of Marines and Sailors trying to serve at the time Clinton became President and enacted "Don't ask, don't tell."

Then Anthony Swofford's (Jarhead) essay, "Escape and Evasion" was published in Sex For America.   According to one reviewer:

It's a gripping tale of a homosexual predator, where you see events partly through the eyes of a serial rapist, hoping he's caught and punished yet still fascinated by his twistedness. Puzzled and frustrated in the end, as the rapist welcomes his brutal punishment.

Next month, Christoper Rice, openly gay son of world-renowned bestselling author Anne Rice, and bestselling author in his own right, will release a novel involving a gay Marine muder mystery.

..The novel is titled Blind Fall.. and it looks great. I've already ordered a copy and can't wait to read it.

I was thrilled that both Blind Fall and Code of Conduct were mentioned last Friday at this post on AfterElton.com.  The editor Michael Jensen asks that if you have an opinion about either book, to post it in the comments section.

Interestingly, Rice's book contains a link to the Servicemembers' Legal Defense Network blog.   It's good that SLDN has noticed Blind Fall and is actively promoting it on their blog.  It would be great, also, if they would promote Code of Conduct.  Christopher Rice is a master of compelling, dark, gothic mysteries.  However, if SLDN is serious about promoting a novel that deals with the complexities and devastating effects of the military's policies against lesbians and gay men, by an author who served in the military for over a decade, it seems like Code of Conduct would be exactly what they're looking for.

You can post a comment at the freedom to serve blog or email Steve Ralls, SLDN's Director of Communications to let him know about Code of Conductsralls@sldn.org
