What?! No Robin Williams!? Heh, heh...

I'll have to give some thought to this from any opinion I'd have. "Will Ferrell?" See... now I would've left him off my list. Not because he isn't funny, mind you. I just don't think he's as 'seasoned' as a serious actor. My list would look back a few score earlier to include actors like JIMMY STEWART and SPENCER TRACEY too! Ahh, yes, but beauty...as in craftmanship...is in the eye of the beholder.

Not a single one? See spencer tracy in GUESS WHS COMMING TO DINNER with kathryn hepburn...its his last role b4 he died and he died 2 days after filming wrapped. When you watch it realize they had to film all of his close ups and all his lines first because he wasnt sure how long hed be alive so when you see him on screen alone in that movie he is acting to noone...without the other actor there. Its a brilliant movie for ANY time and ANY person its just a brilliant story and brilliantly acted. The daughter in it dont know her name is said to be hepburns cousin but in actual fact was hepburns and tracys illigitimate daughter. Not many people know, i met a producer in LA from old old hollywood who said its absolutely true and they managed to keep it out of the papers. Also sidney poitier...brilliant. Kathryn Houghton is the daughters name i just remembered. Peace love and movie magic* Winterain*

Easily "The Best" list can differ from "Your Favourites"....

You can appreciate and give due credit to something you think is created particularly well or the best. You know, admire the story, direction, cinematography, acting, or all of those things.....but "your favourite" doesnt necessarily have to be crafted well, it can just be a movie that warms your heart for whatever reason, that you can relate to or are entertained by EVERY time you watch it...it could be a movie that first got you into loving movies...a lot of the times your true choice can be embarrassing!....

For example one of the "great movies" i think has been made is Gone with the Wind....what struck me deeply (and surprisingly) was the incredible complexity and intensity of the characters, the unexpected dialogue and witty subtext, the epic nature of the story, but i only saw it once and am not really interested in seeing it again anytime soon but was truly impressed by the film making itself and will never forget it....

But one of my "favourite movies" is.... shit i just realized you were talking about actors....well same thing applies i guess...one of the greats is certainly Marlin Brando and i appreciate his intensity, his presence and understanding and brilliant execution of his craft but he annoys the crap out of me.

Nicholas Cage is so over the top and is has been known to give some lame and laboured performances and some truly great ones. I can see how he can be very 2 dimensional and wishywashy but i find him fascinating and will see everything he does...Confessions of a movie junkie (with a little too much time on her hands at the moment).......um thanks xxx

Where's Jimmy Cagney. He truly was the most versatile in his time. Hell...there are none that can cut a rug like he used to NOW either. John Garfield was a GREAT. I truly believe Michael Keaton is under rated too. He is an extremely talented Actor. Jimmy Costello is an extremely talented Actor as well. He isn't on the Map yet...but you may remember him as Wise Guy  "Tony Bones"  in "Walker Texas Ranger" and he can be seen in the recently released "The Prodigy." www.theprodigymovie.com He plays "Leon Carter" in that one. He also just booked the part as Mob Boss "Jimmy Dannuci" in Vince DeNiro's upcoming Action/Horror Film "GOD of the Dead" He will co-star with TOM SAVINI. Okay...I am Jimmy Costello. Ha! What can I say...there is NO HUMBLE way to Market myself. ")

Although I think your list has merit, you're missing some of the best actors of all time. How 'bout Jimmy Stewart, Gary Cooper, or Spencer Tracy? What about Katherine Hepbern, Bette Davis, or Ingrid Bergman? Where would they rank on your lists?

I don't get Natalie Portman or Michael Douglas being on there.

Kate Winslet would have to be my number 1 on all time - what a body of work and she's only 30.

Come on people - go see her movies! -

Judy Davis should be on there.

You've got to see Kate's movies maybe 2-3 times to really finally get her acting skills - way ahead of the rest of the pack.

MD's best work has been as a producer. His acting is so-so at BEST.And Natalie Portman? How about Natilie Wood,Diane Keaton,Faye dunaway, or Goldie Hawn even? And Tom Hanks(THE MOST OVERATED ACTOR EVER).The only people on your list that should be moved up are Depp(should be 1,and Dinero 2).Sorry but I have to call shenanigans on your list.
