Futility and Impossibility
Oh sweet beautiful disasterpiece
Your coldness leaves me wondering
Can't shake the sand from out my shoes
Yet why are you such a blundering
fool?
Sitting on the table, staring at the lilies
The lights aren't illuminating much
Chain-smoking three, I'm relaxed for a while
But why is dreaming of you such
a chore?
My string's still extended to my faraway love
Dreams of sun and drinks by the pool
Friday nights out drinking, drunken dancing
Apparently my wallet's a mere tool
for you!
Rain pounding down my cheeks
I sit waiting for the latest text
I'm moving on, growing up
But worrying 'bout who'll be the next
victim!
Boredom, wrapping an elastic band around my finger
My glass of peach juice, sweet, not you
I'm going away, for a year, or three
Intending to find a new
girl!
This one, I get her, she gets me, we just work
But I don't get you, and I'm not the real me
Green jeans to please you, can't afford them
I'm going to the mountains with the one who'll always be
above you!
P.S. the glass is empty
