Oh man. The good news is that Neurot is re-issuing the Physics back catalog. The bad news is that I have to transfer and catalog , like, 12 dat tapes full of random stuff onto my pc. It makes me feel OLD.
I been to some shows lately, the best of which, of course, was The Boredoms. I’ve been a huge fan since Soul Discharge. Then, the wife and I had a date night and went to see Built To Spill. I had a plus-one, but I wasn’t on the list for some reason and it was sold out, so i hadda call the club promoter to get in. I felt like an asshole. I have no problem putting people on lists, but I hate asking to be on one, and I feel like a double dumbass when after all that I’m not really on it. But, it was date night and the wife had a fun time. They played real good too and did a buncha old songs and an Eno cover and no really long guitar solos. They are the best at what they do. Last night i went to see Pleaseasaur, who were supposed to be opening for the presidents of blahda, blahda, whom didn’t show up cause the singer lost his voice from partying to hard with weird al the night before. This entire concept baffles me. Pleaseasaur were their usual entertaining selves, tho.
I’ve been on the wagon since i got back from japan, but i had some drinks last monday ’cause i was djing a Punk Rock Night thing for St. Patricks Day. It was fun and i got to see some old friends. There is talk of doing a History of San Diego night soon.
I finished my Genghis Tron remix and I’m pretty happy with it. I called Hamilton yesterday and he said they had just had another horrible van accident. Everyone was fine, but the van and trailer were totalled. This same thing happened three years ago, but they flipped the van that time. I’m just glad they’re o.k.
So, Joi from Sleeping People was talking about coming back to San Diego and playing bass for Goblin Cock (everyone else in sleeping people is already in goblin cock except for Kenseth, whom she would be replacing), but now I hear Kasey (s.p. and g.c. guitarist) is also thinking of moving to New York to make it easier to write with Joi, so now I probably need to find a new guitar AND bass player. sheesh. I’m almost ready to put out the next album (Come With Me If You Want To Live which rules over the first) and i gotta start figuring out a touring schedule around Pinback stuff to push it. Plus, they are the funnest shows lately.
Other then that, I’m just trying to get the house in order for a home-birth in late april-early may.
wee haw!
