This is an open invite to come hiking with Pea. My current exercise routine is to hike Cowles Mtn. in Del Cerro (near SDSU) every Monday and Wednesday at around sundown. As of this writing (05/22/07) That means that I start hiking at 6:00pm.
Cowles Mtn. is the highest point within San Diego city limits. You get a great 360 degree view of the suburban sprawl, plus views of the mountains to the east and the ocean to the west. The trail is 3 miles round trip, with a 900' elevation gain. That means it's a nice workout. It takes me an hour, including about 10 minutes' break at the top. If you're out of shape or just not used to climbing mountains, it may take more like 1.5 hours.
Here's a cheesy video I shot w/ Lyd on Cowles. Directions to the trailhead can be found
here. Carpooling is an option too. Either way, let me know at least an hour or so in advance if you're thinking of joining me.
Wear shoes with good traction and bring a water bottle. You will get hot and sweaty on the way up, but might get a little chilly on the way down.
Hope to see y'all there!
