Pod of Horror Wants Your Xmas Story

I’m now reading submissions for the Pod of Horror Xmas Story Contest.

The guidelines are simple. I want to see horror stories with a Christmas setting. No limits on language, theme, setting, blah blah blah.

Length: 500-2000 words

Deadline: December 15, 2009

Format: E-mail subs only to podofhorror at aol dot com. Word document or .rtf file. Double space, please. I have old eyes.

Compensation: No pay, but the winning story will be read on Pod of Horror #58, which goes live on December 19, 2009. The winning author will also receive a box of cool stuff from the Pod of Horror Prize Vault.
Brandon Layng, Writer, Editor, Artist

With a rusty nutcracker I will split open my skull, dig out the gray matter with a punch bowl dipper and make a queasy fruitcake of fiction for you that you will hopefully want to pass around to your friends and not burn with the three week dried up Christmas tree. There might be shrunken head ornaments and tiny sugar plum fairies speared in place of their spines. Children could possibly wake up to stricken with fear to scream upon finding their parents have made bloody tissue wrapped presents of friends and neighbours who rocked around the Christmas tree the night before. Santa maybe devoured by under-nourished and overworked reindeer while gleeful elves play jingles on his saliva shiny bones. All these things may come to pass before I'm done constructing my X-mas cast!
Either way I hope you enjoy my submission and don't immediately give it a pass. Have fun with all the stories you receive, at the least, they should be entertaining.
