Ahhh, another day and yet another concert. Ya gotta love this town. Last night I caught Bon Jovi with some friends and acquaintences out at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. I went for two reasons. A.) Duh , it's Bon Jovi. B.) My friend's sister was to sick to go. I hated being there due to someone else's misfortune but man this was a fun night. My ears are still ringing and I hope that part goes away soon.
We started out eating at Wolfgang Puck's Cafe in the MGM. Man they had some good food and dessert there. It was a bit pricey but it was worth it. After the meal we decided to just head striaght in to the venue. A local band known as Ashbury was the opening act. Tey won a contest that 94.1 FM put on around the area. The band I saw a couple weeks ago, Away Station, had a shot at it but I guess their following isn't large enough yet. Ashbury was pretty good so I could see why they won. They had some decent enregy going when the songs called for it. There were 5 large screens in the background that had a scrolling text with messages from folks text messaging into a Sprint #. After a few minutes I decided to Gambitize the whole arena. I sent in MGM, YOU"VE BEEN GAMBITIZED!!! Year's ago it was the Hoover Dam and the Stratosphere and yesterday was the MGM... What next? Anyhow, back to the music... like I was saying, Ashbury had some good stuff. Nothing I'd buy and pick up but something to enjoy for the moment.
Bon Jovi came on at 9pm and Jon started out right at the back of the arena on a platform. I knew that was going to happen due to some tickets I saw on ebay over the last few weeks. He rocked us out with Last Man Standing and then walked on the opposite side of the arena, from where we were, to the stage. We were second row on the lower level and had a clear view of everything. Man were they on fire last night. Everything sounded fantastic and they played for 3 hours. That included about 3 encores too. At one point Jon cam back into the crowd, walked within arms distance of me in my section, and walked up about halfway up the section to a platform there. He sang slightly tones down versions of Blaze of Glory and Bed of Roses up there. As he sang Bed of Roses he slowly walked down and hugged, kissed, or was kissed by lots of adoring fans. He walked within arms distance of me again and kept on going to the stage. My friend Danielle was in a frenzy. She's most definitely in love with Jon. She even picked up a Mrs. Bon Jovi shirt!
I think her obsession might be as strong as Liz's obsession with Dane Cook if not stronger.
So overall it was quite an evening. They sang Someday I'll Be Saturday Night and I was 100% satisfied at that point. Let me tell ya, they were workin' hard last night. Triple overtime I'd say. I spent a little bit of time in the casino as the crowds were rushing out. I heard that Jon and Richie were at one of the bars but I didn't bother lookin' because I figured there would be swarms there. If they head out to Sacown, you aren't gonna wanna miss this.
OK, now I've got taxes to work on otherwise I'mhosed for my appointment a week from today. Take care and I'll talk to or see you soon!
