Well lately I have had the opportunity of visiting a lot of hotels. Some good, some bad and some that were bad or old and revamped to look good. But is that always the case.
The other night in Pittsburgh I was staying in the Hilton downtown. Now the Hiltons have always been a pretty nice hotel. But with that said you could tell that this building was here for sometime and that the rooms have had a renovation done to them.
Now these renovations are usually a good thing with these older buildings but there is one drawback I have found with there design.
I order to have a more open concept they have eliminated some wall and the door to the bathroom has been removed in place of the sliding door. I am not a big fan of these, sure it opens up room in the bathroom and out in the room as you now do not have a door to swing in the way. But your feeling of security in the bathroom is just not there. Sure on some of them there is a lock, but the doors usually have to much swing to them. or a large gap under them. When in the bathroom I don't want to hear what is going on there with great detail which is why I am a fan of the old school door. I know some of those were not much better but I liked it. The other thing that bothered me is that some of these sliding doors have frosted glass in them. Yet again another thing that I do not want in a bathroom door. I don't even want a foggy frosted glass idea of what someone is doing in there.
I know these doors open up space in a older smaller room, but I am unhappy with these doors.
I know this is a lame blog but if you have been in as many hotel rooms as I have, this could be an important comfort to you.
