Well I ripped out the sod from the street to the steps and edged it with 100+ year old brick all the way up to the new arch that I also installed.  I have blue morning glories that I'll grow up the arch next spring.  I also put out the oval flower bed with the bird feeder and birdbath and planted a few of the new additions in it.  I have to wait on the pansys to put in the walk up to the arch but I do have salmon coloured oleander coming to go up infront of the welcome arch that is right before the steps.  I have the banana and piper nigum planted along with the vanilla orchid and Thai ginger.

This week being shipped is 2 dwarf pomegranate trees, strawberry tree seeds, some very old roses one that grows over 30 feet tall.  The Reine des Violettes will be out front in the oval garden along with the "Pillar of Gold" rose I'm going to try the old Victorian practice of "pegging" it.  Meaning it's a climbing rose but you peg the main shoots straight out following close to the ground making a 20 foot length total.  This forces the rose to grow up from there making a fence row if you will of 4 feet tall stalks every few feet filled with blooms.  I also have many different seeds for next seasons start on it's way along with the South African "Redhot Poker" and some tulips.  Another tree that I'm adding that I'm excited about is "Cinnamomum Zeylanicum" the best in quality Cinnamon tree!  I've also picked up a second dwarf cavendish banana.  The final plant that I'm excited that I got I'll keep in this winter just in case but it's the Confederate Jasmine to vine up the front of the house and of course offer her sweet scent all summer long.

One thing that I do have to share with you is how many people stopped Saturday to tell me how great the garden looks.  Several people stopped to say how beautiful our home is, people that we've never talked to from across the street said they love their home more because it looks out onto ours.  Another couple pulled up and said that they were on their way to Lowes because our yard looks so good they're going to finally do something to theirs.  I've always heard it only takes 1 to change a neighbourhood well I guess I am the "1".  Today a few ladies whom walk the neighbourhood daily stopped to say "Don't you dare think your hard work has gone un-noticed, we love it."  3 others drove by shouting "It's looking good".  I can't tell you how that makes me feel.
