(its always about life, isnt it?) Over the weekend, I assisted in the production of the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony on the south steps of the Texas State Capital. Thousands of lights streamed down congress avenue. I was working the stage where John Aielli led a group of thousands singing Christmas carols. It was a very moving experience to see all walks of life singing along in the seasonal cold, which finally made its way down the week before.
At one point there was a small boy who had lost his parents. The rangers had found him and brought him to the stage and he was very upset. After a while, they located his mother and she came to the stage to get him. It was a beautiful thing to witness. The human spirit is alive and well in Austin, TX.
