This is a first for my podcast!

I work with a gentleman at Bobby Love's who also happens to be a member of the local band 'The Elegant Universe'. And I love their music! After listening to their demo, I have convinced myself that I have to snap out of my shell more often. Sometiems I am too narrowly stuck in my little world of club music and high profile dance artists - I don't even get out enough to experience local treasures like this. But working on Halsted Street in Chicago, I meet lots of people, and thankfully, I was given a copy of some of their demo tracks to listen too.

'The Elegant Universe' is a refreshingly gritty pop/garage mix of Lifehouse, Maroon 5, Prince, and even in this track, a bit of KC and The Sunshine Band; shamefully playful lyrics make you smile, danceably groovin' bass hooks move the air, and acidic guitar riffs mixed with hints of electronica remind you we are in the 21st century. All this AND radio friendly vocals, lyrics and melodies made for a positive listening experience.

I like all the songs on the demo...but as is usually my excuse, I really wanted to make this one club friendly. And I played it twice last night...pumped up the bass on this one; somehow, the bass and guitars just dance right off the tribal ryhthm I gave this track. And the melody, lyrics, and lead singers vocals fit right in to my top 20 club music set. I could not have been happier.

(P.S. By the way, there is also a book titled 'The Elegant Universe' by Brian Greene. I highly recommend the book as well - it will make you reassess what you think about Life, The Universe, and Everything!)
