A majority of you visiting our MySpace purchased the cassette-single in 1990 (was it really that long ago?) when cassettes were the preferred media. Shortly thereafter CD's became all the rage and when we fast forward to present day most of us are now downloading MP3's to our I-Pods or play lists.
As a show of our appreciation for those who came to the shows to help support us, you are welcome to download the songs for free here on our MySpace site.
The songs were recorded circa Jan 1990 in Holt Studios, Mt Morris NY. Gary Holt engineered the session and John West (vocalist for Royal Hunt/Badlands) was the producer. Many thanks for the guideance and experience John!
Nostalgic info/day of recording;
With several inches of accumulation and with a heavy snow fall already underway, the band set out from Bath NY at approximately 10AM in three (3) vehicles headed west on Rte 17/86w. Visibility was limited and ice was forming in scattered spots on the highway. As the band/crew approached the exit of Kanona NY (only a few miles from their starting point) singer Steve Roberts came upon a patch of black-ice. The vehicle spun around down the highway until finally coming to a rest in a snow drift within the median of the highway. With the exception of a few bruises and being shaken up, Roberts did not sustain serious injury. Upon brief discussion Roberts chose to lock/secure his car and we continued on! (yes we were that crazy--ha,ha).
We made our way through the snow to the Holt Studios in Mt Morris NY and the two (2) songs "Asylum" and "Invisible Tears" were recorded/mixed within the same day.
At the time of recording the average age of the band members was 20 years old (not even old enough to drink--ha, ha). A few short months following the session and with the help of 105.3FM placing the song "Asylum" in rotation, the band played its first show to over 600 people!
Thank you for your support & we hope you enjoy the songs - Asylum
