Yay Area'$ Finest Hoop Mixtape vol 2
The tape starts out nicely, hitting us with some hyphy beats and exploding with crazy a** footage. Taking the viewer through high school, aau tournies, junior college games, local parks and pro ball. I cannot stress how ridiculous the footage on this tape is, Many high school stars from the bay are presented besides Drew Gordon who was recently in Slam. One thing is, is that the Bay gets no type of recognition when it come's to basketball, none whatsoever, so with this mixtape, Yay Area represented the bay in a way I myself have not even seen, and I'm from the bay dammit!
The footage was so fucking nut's at times, it got me on my feet wanting to rewind over and over on what had just happened on the tube. Had many many shout out's from famous bay area rappers including, the hoodstars, the team, frontline, b-legit and the list goes on. Travis had shout out's from Josh Childress, Baron Davis and many other up and coming hoop stars. The tape contained some Leon Powe footage from high school which I've been dying to see, yet it didn't have as much as I would have liked to have seen. We all know Leon was a beast, he was to be better or as good as Lebron before his surgery on his knee. Drew Gordon tore this tape up countless amounts of times, as did the hyphy beats.
Overall Score:
I'd say this tape is a buy, although its a bit long, listed at about an hour and a half, it has stuff you'll want to see over and over. If you've seen streetball classics volume 1, you know that tape was tight, it was long but it was tight, this tape is long but the music is better, the editing is better and the same plays arent being used over and over throughout the tape.
Footage: 10
Editing: 7.5
Music: 9.5
Length: 8(just because I prefer 30-40 minutes with bonus features)
Video Quality: 9.0
Overall: 8.8 (Very Good Buy, the best high school tape of '06)
Look for a new clip up on this tape shortly, along with ordering info, thanks to Gutta Productions and Travis for getting us the dvd.
