Current mood:  pensive

There's a question that's been on my mind for a long time.  If I put healthy food on my kids' plates and they don't eat it, does it still count?  Back in the old days, with my two oldest, I used to watch them eat their vegetables, whole grains and fruits and feel joyful imagining all the vitamins and minerals entering their bloodstream going to all parts of their bodies to give them energy to do mitzvahs.  (Yes, I've always been a bit odd.)  I also used to sneak vegetables in the most unusual places.  Broccoli in the burgers,  orange parsnip cake, chocolate beetroot cake. (Yes, some were kind of revolting.) But now the burgers are filled with meat and cakes are filled with flour.  I'm older and more tired and I just watch the half-eaten plates (with the healthy remainders lying there untouched) and I wonder.  Oh well!

Take care,

Very funny Zlati. It does count. At least you tried. As we get older our energy level drops and we look for short cuts in things that we do. Since you are giving your children the healthy vegetables, it's their decision whether to eat it or not even though I know your two youngest are very young. I'm sure every once in a while you do sneak something healthy inside of something that you know that they will eat.

Dear M,

You're right. I still do sneak healthy things inside of other things. Have you ever had a chocolate cake made without wheat, chocolate, eggs, sugar and baking powder? Well, my family has! I don't think there were too many requests for seconds, though.
