Yesterday I was in a car accident. Pulling out of the school parking lot after doing morning carpool, I proceeded into the intersection to make a left turn. The far away car driving in the right lane began switching lanes to the left and so instead of waiting at the center median like I usually do (to make sure the traffic was clear on the other side) I rammed on my accelerator to miss the other car and make the left turn. Unfortunately, I was so scared I forgot to check the ongoing traffic in the other direction and I collided with another car.
Thank G-d, nobody was hurt. (I had my 2 year old son with me who sat calmly the whole time in his car seat, eating from a bag of cereal.) There was damage to both cars and I felt so badly for the woman whose car I hit. It's one thing to cause damage to your own property, but it's horrible to know you've caused difficulties for others.
The amazing thing is that after we arrived home my oldest son told me something incredible. He was home sick with a cold and therefore dovened (said his morning prayers) at home. For some inexplicable reason he doesn't know, he had a desire to say Tehillim (Psalms) after he finished dovening. (We often say Tehillim when someone in in trouble or sick etc.) It turns out that he said Tehillim about the same time as I had the car accident. I think that his Tehillim recitation mitigated the effect of the accident. Had he not said it, who know how bad the accident would have been? This was a sure example of hashgacha pratis (divine providence). I am very, very grateful!
Only good things to all,
Zlati
