Colours, first up, a big thanks for being part of the comp, we're really glad to have you on board.
Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself? a brief history for anyone new to your music.
Hi, yeah, I've been playing about with music for about 10 years now, playing bass in a few different bands, messing about with four track recordings a guitar, casio keyboard and drum machine. Then, i suppose, gradually since buying a pc 4'ish years ago 'Colours' has slowly developed.
Theres a really beautiful organic feel to your music, we can hear a lot of recorded natural sounds and noises in there, can you tell us a bit about that type of recording process?
Thanks a lot. I think some of the most beautiful sounds come from acoustic instruments and natural sources. I try to grab my own samples when i can with a little minidisc recorder, I've also built up a little collection of instrument sounds like a music box, cello and a piano i played about with for noises. To then be able to manipulate them on a computer in so many ways, it keeps the organic quality i love but you end up with something that can be a lot more interesting.
So another year in the bag. What have been your highlights of 2007?
It hasn't been a very productive year musically, I moved to Brighton for 5 months, had an accident i was lucky to escape from, moved back to Gloucestershire and am now just getting things together. I suppose playing live in December was a musical highlight, i had some really positive feedback and it feels like my live set-up is finally coming together.
and master plans for 2008?
The usual things, write some more, develop some more, and get a lot more live gigs. Playing live is my main aim, it gives me room to experiment and try things i wouldn't do if i was sat playing about at home...it's a good feeling too!
Any new years resolutions?
I never manage to keep them or always forget I've made them, ha ha, maybe thats my excuse, so I've given them a miss this year.
Next we've got a question from 'andthentherewererobots':
"Your stuff has a slight likeness to telepopmusik. This a good thing. Are you secretly french?"
Funny you should say that as I did receive a black and white striped jumper for Christmas and am quite a fan of garlic! Maybe i have some French roots back there somewhere!
Thats the lot for now.
We'll be seeing you in 2008.
