Current mood:  knighted
Category: Music

Below are some of our general guidelines, requirements, procedures, and things of that nature for show bookings:

To book a show with us you can do any of the following:

-          Send us a myspace message

-          E-mail us at screamingbeaverrecords@hotmail.com

Or you can send a Press Kit to:

Screaming Beaver Records

ATTN: BOOKING

PO Box 736

Oswego, IL 60543

We will only book acts that we can hear the music before booking. Some exceptions will be made occasionally in the following cases:

-          Some of your band members were in band that we worked with a lot before and we trust those members.

-          You have been referred to us by a trusted source (band, manager, promoter, agent, or label that we frequently work with)

You don't need to have professional quality songs for us to listen to online. Even a rough live recording is fine. It is mainly just to see who you would be good to have you on a bill with.

DO NOT send any booking requests to Tom's or any of SBR's employee's personal myspace or facebook pages. They will not be responded to!! We need our personal space too.

DO NOT send us booking requests from your personal myspace account. We will just tell you to send it again from your band's account. It just makes things easier and more organized.

When replying to a message please do not delete any of the previous messages that are included. We book a lot of shows and use those previous messages to refer back to for dates and other information.

EVERY band is expected to promote for every show you have with SBR and bring people out to the show. Yes we are known for working with new bands that don't yet have a large following or have had much exposure, but we are willing to give pretty much everyone a chance. As long as they try hard we are generally happy.

Certain venues have requirements as to how many people each band is expected to bring out. These can range from 15 people to 100 people. Your best bet is to be completely honest with how many people you can bring out to a show. Being honest with how many people you can bring out goes a lot further with us than lying about it and only bringing out half of your promised draw. Plus, we generally know what each band is able to do, even if we haven't worked together before. All the promotion companies/booking agents/venues talk and word does get around.

Conduct yourself in a professional manner at our shows. We are not afraid to cut your mic, cut your set short, cancel your set all together etc.. due to a band member doing something completely unacceptable at a show.

We know that nobody ever really wants to play the first or last slot on a show, but it's impossible to always get a slot in the middle of the show. We try to do our best to line the bill up as fairly as possible.

If a show is 21+ we will not book a band that does not have a 21+ following.

Most venues are ok with one or two members of a band being under 21 and playing a 21+ show. This does not mean they can be 15 years old though. We will require that all band members be at least 19 and at least half of the band be over 21 in order to play a 21+ show

We generally provide an internet flyer for shows and, upon request, a printable flyer/11x17" poster. Feel free to make your own also though, just be sure that it has all the correct info on it. We will not take responsibility for any band made promo that has incorrect information on it.

YO.

I have two things to say:

did you mean not to put an actual address?

I'm glad you feel knighted. That's a pretty huge smile for "knighted" lol

I think I can follow all the rules. But I don't think I need anymore exposure, I could get frost bite or worse. LOL
