I am becoming more enthralled, and appalled, each day with Election 08 . I watch television, surf the net and listen to the radio.  It  becomes more apparent to me every single day, that it really is not we , the people, who elect our president; but instead they, the media decide who will lead this country. And they do it with a vengeance.

Mike Huckabee has steadily risen in the polls since October 1 and while this has been happening, the media has narrowed what they consider to be the "top contenders" from a group of four (of course excluding Huckabee) to two, Romney and Guiliani ; maybe three, if they consider a comatose person (Dead Fred) eligible for the Presidency. I wonder when the day comes that Huckabee is first in the polls, if the media will just throw in the towel and give it to Hillary? Inasmuch as the media has chosen the "Top Two" Republicans, they have also chosen a Clitnon third term; a Clinton dynasty in the works, if you will. Will Chelsea be next?

What if Billary doesn't win the nomination? She is down in the polls today. Barack seems to be having an impact. Will all those who are not backing Mike because he is not "electable" have an "oops" moment if they find they have sacrificied their values for naught?I'm constantly trying to put my finger on the reasoning of some of the supporters of the other candidates in this race. Surely others are not having this problem with why Huckabee supporters are behind him. He's normal.

Mitt Romney is a Mormon. Our country was founded on Faith in God. It's my understanding that the God we worship is not quite the same as the God Mitt worships. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't really think Jesus visited Joseph Smith in New York (or anywhere else). How can we elect a President who is not a Christian, in a country whose very foundation has always been Christianity? A few of my favorite quotes from the "Mormon Doctrines" (or "indoctrination", I prefer to call it) and other teachings  follow:

1.After you become a good Mormon, you have the potential of becoming a god, (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pages 345-347, 354.)

2. Jesus' sacrifice was not able to cleanse us from all our sins, (murder and repeated adultery are exceptions), (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 3, p. 247, 1856.)

3. God used to be a man on another planet, Mormon Doctrine, p. 321. Joseph Smith, Times and Seasons, Vol 5, pp. 613-614; Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses, Vol 2, p. 345, Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 333.)
Enough said. Maybe Tom Cruise will run next time. Let's move on.

Rudy "9/11" Guiliani is next.

Values first! I totally agree. I am not going to back my 2nd choice candidate just because he is better known. Popularity contests are how the Demo-brats choose their candidates. This is not how the Republican party should handle the situation. By choosing Rudy, people that are value driven are choosing easy over what is right. I have a feeling people will have an "oops" moment. And they will have to live with it for the next term if they don't change their mindset now. Viva la Huck.
