Category: Blogging

Morning all you cyber space surfers
I write to you from a white room with blue curtains..

I have a very important announcement!

As you know I blogged a few months ago about the  Bunny Club EP coming out in October.
Well in true scattergood style I got a bit carried away and we are running a bit late...
But never fear it is on its way and the scheduled release date for it is -

16th November!!!!

Put it in your diaries,i-calendars,etch it into your arm with indelible marker pen
(if you get ink poisoning that wasn't my idea!)

So it is coming out along with some rather fabulous b-sides!!!!
The version which is being released is very different to the album track,I shall reveal more closer to the time, but I think you will like it all!- (fingers crossed!)

Now I have some more good news for lots of you...
After reading lots of your posts asking for a physical release I realized how important something physical is to so many of you!
Unfortunately like I explained before,we are living in a virtual world, and bringing out a physical release of a single is becoming more and more difficult...

Which is why I have decided to think out side of the box & do something a bit different,So...
I am going to make a very limited edition amount of tapes up and give them away,to those of you who buy the virtual i-tunes version, but want a physical copy too.
I fell in love with the tape format as one of my early memories is sitting in the back of my dads turquoise Austin Allegro  listening to Michael Jackson on my sony walkman!-
I was so retro and I didn't even know it!

SO my friend Buzz (Alex Bee) inspired these tape thoughts, he is a  bit of a Vinyl junky & he was showing me his tape collection the other day... which is very impressive may I add!
Whilst doing this he also mentioned that he has the facility to record tapes in his bedroom studio...

Now Buzz hasn't actually agreed to help me make these tapes I speak of... however I am hoping after he reads this blog, (and then reads hopefully all of your fabulous comments with your unconditional love for him and his bedroom studio)that his arm will be sufficiently twisted!

So each of these tapes
(and there really aren't going to be that many as Buzz is a busy man)
Will all be signed & and numbered by me,in my very best handwriting!

I obviously need to ask everyone who gets given one of my special tapes to buy the single the "proper" way,to keep everyone happy and also so the record company don't have to kill me! -But I will blog with all the finer details like how to get your hands on one, closer to the release date!

Let me know your thoughts and ideas, maybe artwork ideas you might like me to include in the tapes!

I know allot of you might  say release it on Vinyl or CD & lots of you may not have tape players, but i have kind of set my heart on tape...
When you see them you will totally get it!
+ tape players are so uncool you can pick them up very cheaply!
+ if Bunny Club is the only tape you own,and it sits sad & lonely in its own geeky little personal Polly tape player thats kind of cool in its self?! -Talk about life imitating art! ;-)

Anyway I had better go,
I know I am very excited about the release of Bunny Club...
Please spread the word, in the run up to the release!
phone up your local radio stations, blog about it, tell all your mates, you can even try the big guns at radio one if your feeling particularly ambitious!

Thats it for now
Look forward to hearing your response & any ideas you want to throw into the mix!

Over n Out

Polly xx

I've always loved the way you sing the words 'Bunny Club', almost Eastern European-esque. Not sure why it sounds like that to me, but it get's cooler every time i hear it :)
I shall dig out the casette player...

You know, I think I may still have an old 1990's sony walkman cassette player some where, and I think it was still working when I commandiered its batteries when I finally upgraded to a walkman CD player back in march (I've up graded again since then).
I signed and numberd cassette sounds brilliant, though not as retro as a record, and their were never the worthy successor that the CD is, it still has a fun nostalgic quality of going of on holiday, singing along to this new idea of music only you can hear and being told "you can't sing, shut up" by ones younger sister.
I do hope this whole tape release works well enough that a) you consider doing it again and b) Mute eventualy consider retracting there download only policy. Can't wait to hear what you've done with Bunny Club, and can't wait to hear the 'b' sides.
David :) x

Hi,

I think it is cool to stick with tapes, there are some who say even CD's are old fashioned already, but as long as there are still people who buy vinyls, there will also be some who will buy casettes. Luckily I own a player with CD and tape deck.
It might be quite simple, but I would suggest bunnys/a bunny as layout. maybe with different facial expressions.

Take care!

Great idea. I think maybe you should grab a 'lad's mag', make a collage of some of the photos and then stick rabbits heads over their faces. Turn that into the sleeve... it could look cool.

"Funny club" ..... I think that's what she said; but I'd have to hear it on a Maxell.......(Probably before your time ~ that ad).

Fantastic idea!

Go on Buzz! You know you want to!

I like that idea Polly! Dunno how many people who still have their cassette decks, intact and all, but I'm one of them :)... It still works flawlessly, and I use it very seldom nowadays - but a Bunny Club cassette is a good reason to wipe the dust off it!... I wonder whether there are still cassette tape manufacturers around, that make more wild casings than the regular generic looks (a pink "glittery" cassette could otherwise be somewhat appropriate here :P )... Also a 3-fold-out cassette booklet with a bunch of pics and the hand written lyrics to the songs etc...

:O WANT

I love cassettes & vinyl, CD's are annoying and uninteresting.
So excited for the release, anywho.

I'm sure we have an old walkman around here somewhere. I do still have a cassette in my car and do use it once in a while for the odd (old) mixtape. A new tape would be very welcome.

I know I saved that walkman for a reason! Excellent idea!

Maybe you should add something like the filmstrip in the Tara Busch Limited Edition box (not neccessary a filmframe, maybe a bit from a poem / some unreleased lyrics etc) with the package - something that when all owners of the tapes add their piece of the puzzle adds up to something else... it's a group thing you know!

hearing a b-side suddenly only seems right if you actually have to flip something over to listen.  the cd player is busted on my old stereo from eighth grade, but the tape decks still work same as they did on my 14th birthday!
