Note: I started writing this blog nearly two months ago, but never got around to finishing it till now. It's from the heart about a dear friend:
::Sigh::
It never seems to get any easier. I've had two different blogs on my mind before writing this one. I will post those at later times. But this subject is more important.
On March 7th, I lost a dear friend. Jerry Skeen, as many of my friends know, owned, operated and managed Rediscoveries from 1998-September of 2000. He hired me on and I started there November 16, 1998. I can not thank him enough for that opportunity because he was not only a great person to work for, he was also a good friend. Thanks to Jerry, I had the opportunity to meet a lot of great people who became great friends.
Over the years, I wondered what became of him after he sold Rediscoveries and moved to Lexington. A couple of years ago, I heard that he became a manager of a Hot Topic store in a mall up there. I kept telling myself "I'm gonna take a trip up there to visit him." Sadly, I never got the chance to.
That's something that will bother me the rest of my life. I hope he knew that I never forgot him and how much him and Rediscoveries had an impact on my life. I honestly consider that period one of the best of my life pre-Connor.
Jerry, my friend, I hope you are looking down at all of us and smiling, and you know that you are loved by a lot of people.
And all my Rediscoveries friends that knew him and knew me, please take a moment to remember him and how much he really meant to us.
God bless.
