Was updating the music player tonight and realised I hadn't blogged in TWO MONTHS. How extremely neglectful of me. How are you all?

There be a new track up on the player called "The Watcher". It's a bit quiet because it's not even close to mixed or mastered yet - I finished it in the early hours of the morning two days ago. I'd be interested in what you think. I think it might be a single.

I've gotten myself into a very regular sleep cycle based around the hours I've been in the studio of late. Sadly, that means a 5am bedtime. I've been working on making it slightly more sociable, but given that it's 4am and I'm blogging, having just done an hour on the exercise bike, clearly that's not working out so well.

I continue to work on the new record, trying to write 'that' song. Listening to Britney and MGMT for demos on How To Do It Properly.

I'm not convinced it's helping.

I still love my Nord. I still find the "we're not breaking any copyrights here, Mr Lawyer" patch names in Native Instruments plugins hilarious. Like the drum kit called "Ate Oh Wait" or the guitar effects rig called "Street of Broken Dreams".

Starting on track... 14? I think it's 14 now. No closer to a track list for a new record. I get excited writing/recording/producing a new track and then finish it and go "sigh. Not good enough again. Let's start over".

This might go on for a while.

Great that you've surfaced for air after your long studio submersion. Not sure about what you're listening to for inspiration, though - would recommend Peter Gabriel, Nerina Pallot, Propaganda and particularly the Unthanks who we're going to see at the Assembly rooms next month. Definately a cut above Britney!
