Just being compared at all with Halloween is an honor. And now I'll have to watch Shocker to see the rest of the comparison. I saw on IMDB that they remade Shocker this year as well...

Overall: 
I think there is one particular scene which will tell you all you need to know about the film.  We see our hero, Scott, take on the bad guy...whose identity I will keep silent here.  In most horror films, this battle would be short...good guy gets some good shots in and so does bad guy and of course bad guy wins.  Not saying that basic premise isn’t true (or not true) but these 2 characters  wage a major battle of fighting for a few minutes.  And it just gets more interesting and exciting as the scene carries on.  Just when I thought those 2 were done, it keeps going.  And oh, there’s still 40 minutes to go in the film!  I was amazed by the work they put in to get this one scene done alone and the film has a few more like it later on as well.  There’s no question everyone put in some major work to make a good film and I was quite impressed.  I think the film takes a little while to get going but the ending will make it all worth while.  Good job here!!!
