Australia has experienced its worst bushfire disaster on record as it continues to battle raging fires throughout Victoria. Authorities suspect the death toll may exceed 300 as they continue to enter isolated areas. Entire towns were virtually wiped off the map with high winds and temperatures exceeding 45 degrees, making it the hottest day since records began. Many received little or no notice as the fire spread rapidly across thousands of hectares of land, some fire fronts exceeding 100km in width. Over 750 homes have been destroyed and the fires continue.
