NASHVILLE via BOWLING GREEN: Tonight — this very hour — marks the convergence of us six souls to put the finishing touches on a first draft, a sketch, a roughly hewn skeleton of our "long-awaited" (by you, we hope?) full-length album for Burnt Toast Vinyl... It's been way too long in the offing, and an absurd challenge for us given our greying hairs, our many careers and concerns, and above all an ever-expanding geographic imprint.
Crazy Horse flew in from his new home of Austin, Texas (to his still-mortgaged house in Nashville) to do his horn-blowing thing and to set up the mics; Mr. Italy and Topp were already there, buying food and clearing space for our exploits. Harold and the Germantown Butcher arrived earlier today, and Yours Truly will scoot down tomorrow in single-digit temperatures to complete the equation.
We're really excited about the new material, and hope that someone out there still remembers us and will want to hear it. So, for the rest of the weekend, we'll be putting meat on the bones of these compositions and trying to get everything mapped out... from here on, most of the writing will be done via Web, from Austin to Louisville, from Bowling Green to Nashville.
I'd like to say you'll be hearing constant updates from us, but if you follow this page you know that's against all precedent. We do promise to work really hard on this thing, this conglomeration of sweat and soul and conscious, and intend to give you something truly new to listen to very soon.
Sincerely,
Justin (for Foxhole)
PS: Little pieces of us exist
here, here and
here as well.
