Happy Valentine's Day!!
It's such a Hallmark holiday but I'm a sucker for it every year!  Any opp to let folks know how much they mean to me, I am all for.  Except this year, the dayjob has sucked all of the energy out of me & I find myself with a bag of Valentine's Cards I never sent to the peeps (they were so awesome they actually had the word "pee" in them - haha) and without a plan of how to spoil the husband today.  And I am a total planner, so obviously I'm a little off these days.  Eeee!!  I hope my loved ones have magnifying glasses to make a Hallmark memory out of my small measly attempts. 
Which brings me to my next love: Music.  Before I met my husband, someone actually told me the reason I wasn't married was because I was married to my music: Mr & Mrs Music.  Wrong, people!  Very wrong!
The past couple of years have landed me on the sideline bench, so to speak.  A little burn-out, some life transitions & personal goals, and some big changes.  But I'm happy 2009 has allowed me some musical opportunities already...and it's only February!
I've always had this hidden dream to sing in a cover band (I wanted to name it Dolly Llama).  And I grew up on a lot of honkytonk music.  So, in January I auditioned for a honkytonk band - my perfect dreamy mix. (Here is where people either have said "COOL!" or "WHY????" haha)   I looooooooved learning all of the songs ~ it felt like stepping back in time and came so naturally.  Unfortunately, the situation wasn't a fit for me: I'd somehow found a band that had no regard for witty bantor or Spinal Tap references.  Obviously, not for me. 
But wait there's more!

I have also been in the studio recording a sweet'n'flirty, rockin'but'girlie cover of "For the Movies" that will be featured on a forthcoming Buckcherry tribute album.  It has been a blast being back in the studio!  I'm recording with some longtime friends-in-music which has made this such an easy re-entrance back into the recording routine.  I swear my first day in there, it was like I had stepped into a long forgotten other country... A wonderful return!

I'll post the song once it's finished and let you all know how you can get your hands on a copy.
