Our Canadian headbanging bro Blair Gibson has compiled a book called "A Heavy Metal Salute to Heavy Metal Band Name Origins". The book concentrates on metal bands and their sub-genres, and basically is just a great resource for metalheads documenting all about how bands got their names, and the meaning behind the names. This 127-page book contains the origins of 500 heavy metal band names (including Apostle of Solitude). This little book covers every genre of heavy metal ever created from stoner rock to hard rock to black metal to hair metal and every other sub-genre in between. These are the band name origins as told by the band members themselves.
Although the author has thus far been unable to find a publisher, it is available at Lulu.com. This is nothing fancy at all as it is a PDF document, but is is truly a labor of heavy metal love. The book is available in the two following formats:
