Howdy, eh? I've been working on some familiar terms for my visits to Canada. I've got my touque (not toboggan as we say here in the South) packed. A toboggan I am told is a sled! I've got my parka(not jacket) ready to go. I've got my long underwear or long johns as we say in Texas and I'm ready to experience curling first hand on the 15th in Winnipeg at the Brier! The Masters of Ceremony will be non other than The Road Hammers and I'm thrilled to be opening up for them. I'm not sure what the brush sweeping on the ice does in curling but I'm ready to learn and embrace it with my Tim Horton's double double in hand as I'm wiping off the proof of the 10 Timbits I just ate! All kidding aside I am really looking forward to the show next Friday. It has been such an amazing experience over the past year to meet so many of you and to get to see such a beautiful country. I just had the opportunity to go to BC for 9 days and write songs with Aaron Pritchett and Mitch Merritt in beautiful Harrison Hot Springs. I got my 1st sea plane experience flying over to Salt Spring Island to write songs with Randy Bachman. What an amazing guy! Him and his wife Denise were so nice. I've never felt so welcome. I then had the pleasure of spending my last 2 days in Vancouver with the beautiful Jessie Farrell and her husband Tom. We wrote 3 songs while I was there. Jessie is an amazing singer and songwriter. It was an amazing trip! Hopefully you'll get to hear many of the new songs on albums to come for all of us in 2009.
So as promised, I've just released my third single "Golden Years" to radio. As many of you may know I wrote this song about my 2 children when we were out for dinner in Nashville. They were being a little less then perfect and making a scene, when a sweet old man came over to our table and told my wife and I how precious our children were. He said these are the "GOLDEN YEARS" and to cherish each moment. I was so moved by his words and couldn't grab a piece of paper fast enough. This song has such a special meaning and I am so excited to share it with everyone. Make sure you contact your local station to request it.
Here's wishing you Cadillac dreams,
WM
