Hello all..

I'm looking for a stand-alone version of EverQuest - but not necessarily *EverQuest* in itself, just something quite similar - and I have been for years.

I love the whole EQ2 style scenario with a large world, continents, cities/towns/different 'zones', spawn points, necromancers and their ability to snare/kite (as well as rangers, warriors, wizards and all that stuff), a selection of races. Quests, chase-cam, eye candy, skill levels learned, crafting like pottery, bowmaking, jewellery, blacksmithing and all the customisation/specialisation within the characters.

What I don't like is the fact that in order to get anywhere I have to be in a clan, pull my weight within the clan, pay my money to play online and all that. I really prefer the solo 'build my own strength up by myself' style of playing, such as in Diablo 2.

I've been searching ENDlessly for a game where I can play in EQ2 style or similar, by myself. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be eternally grateful. I'm not necessarily looking to download a game and will buy it if I can order/find, if it's something I find fun.

I have tried Lords of EverQuest, but that's more of a WarCraft style game where you build buildings and form a large group of warriors and mages and stuff. Morrowing and Neverwinter Nights are okay, but are too Diablo-styled. Although the continents are massive and there's a lot to do, they're really storyline based and you are forced to work your way through said storyline in order to gain access to areas with stronger creatures in order to build your strength - in EQ you can just zone into an area with creatures 50 times your size and hope to survive as you travel, and what-not.

Basically I'm just looking to plod around by myself and fight anything from glow beetles and fireflies up to giants, griffins, spectres and whatever else.

DoT spells, DD, AoE and that sort of thing are highly desirable. I would really prefer to avoid the whole 'social' aspect of EQ2. I love the solo-ing aspect of EverQuest.

Any suggestions graciously accepted!

Thanks,
~Lors
