Current mood:  animated
Category: Religion and Philosophy

I have a few days off and thought I should put this blog to use..after all, poor Tom went through so much trouble making them available for us :) it's a shame I'm not the sugar coating type of person though cause I'll probably get a lot of shit from my posts.

As amusing as blogging about my daily routine could be, I think I'll leave that for some other time and actually show there is a serious side under all the randomness.I thought I might address some of the common questions I receive like my decision to become agnostic.

My interest in religions begun at a young age, my grandma being the curious person she is, dragged me along into several religions, we started off as christians, moved on to Jehovah's witnesses, Hare Krishna's, Bahais Faith, Catholics and finally I decided to try Buddhism a few years ago. After experiencing most of their beliefs and following their rules I found religions aren't for me, why?, quite frankly most of them are ways to instigate fear into you.Ignoring the fact that nobody was actually there to witness god creating earth, and how religions magically started when we became more rational (humans saw men building tools and houses.. so they associate a bigger man or 'supreme being' had to 'build' this earth) theres tons of reasons I dont like nor believe in religions.I find them a safety net people seem to use to hide themselves from reality, your being told what to do and if you do what they say you should, your future is already planned and you will be safe so that way you don't have to worry about anything or have any responsibility, you dont have to think for yourself which is what scares people, they ask themselves, 'what if I make the wrong decision?', if you find yourself worrying about those questions then religions might be for you, do what they say and you will be okay :)...in theory.

Example, a young child is born into a family, does he have the option in choosing which one? no, do they ask him what religion he wants to follow? nope, the kid can only believe in what ever his/her parents believe in, now if the whole god thing is true that means theres only one true religion and the rest are all bull, so the people believing in the wrong religion are going to hell and dragging the poor innocent kid with them, if you ask me thats a form of child abuse lol your condemning your kid into believing something that most likely will send him to burn in hell (same way your parents did with you), what makes people so sure theirs is the right one and the hundreds of others are all wrong? We don't choose our parents so we should atleast be allowed to choose our religion.

Everyone seems to accept what they tell them without actually questioning it, according to Christians (and many other religions) Adam and Eve were the first people on earth, so basically they populated the world, ignoring the fact that their kids had to have incest sex (which i think goes against the bible in the first place) can someone explain why some came out white, black, yellow and brown?  maybe the food had fetus dye back then, who knows.. anyway back to paradise... The first time they told me the reason why Adam and Eve were kicked out of paradise I was astound, I was at catholic school and they said it was cause they ate a fruit from the 'Tree of the Knowledge', why would god forbid them from that tree? did he want them to be stupid? and why do we all have to inheit their sin? it was their mistake and we all have to pay for it :| we could be all be in paradise right now drinking pina coladas...god must be one resentful control freak...isn't he the one that says forgive and forget?

Then there is all the stories that seems out of a fairy tale book, Noah who got a pair of each animal...uh huh..lol I dont think thats possible even now with modern transportation and fit them into an ark.My favorite ones are from Jesus who has so much power and yet decided to do a simple task as is turning water into wine hahaha 'Hi, my name is Jesus...I'm an alcoholic...'

I never liked how Jesus is always portrayed in the cross, it's like their trying to constantly remind you he died for your sins :| work on your guilt, why isn't there many happy portrays of him? its so depressing.. crucified from the palms? a nail through your palms and feet wouldn't be able to hold a full grown man..it would rip the fragile cartilage there.

The banning of contraceptives, so many people in poor countries (seems like the poor still believe in God even if he isn't doing much for them...what else have they got I guess) dying from AIDS and STD's just because a religion condemns them use of a rubber is just wrong, having priests take votes of celibacy so they take out their sexual frustration on little boys, it won't hurt anyone letting the priest get laid heck it might even help him solve your problems better when you go to confession. The fact that there is no female priests is quite sexest, I'd be confessing sins all day if there was a chick in the box...but you can still have fun in there though: 'Forgive me father for I have sinned, I have had homosexual fantasies about you.' 'ermm ummmm pray ten ave maria's, I need to go nowww!...'

Sins are the best part, we are expected to behave and follow the ten commandments based on the idea there is a heaven, so what happens if there isn't? you have wasted the only real life you have had in hopes of expecting something from the future, I'd rather live in the present and enjoy what I know is a sure thing :P I should start praying though...In my early teens I prayed for a motorbike...nothing ever happened, so I called some friends we stole a few and I prayed for forgiveness instead...(if your going to do a crime do it big and make it worth it, the 300 pound biker in your cell won't care if your in for pick pocketing or bank robbing all he knows is he has someone to spoon tonight). It's funny how everyone prays and prays, I know its easy to dump your problems, hopes and dreams on someone else 'god' and pray he makes it all better or come true, but I'd  rather be more realistic and take matters into my own hands, after all... we all have to grow up and stop asking our parents for help at some stage, doesn't that apply to our 'father' as well? don't you think god is annoyed listening to so many selfish people asking for help and strength (then throwing in a 'oh and world peace' request every now and again even though religions were/are the cause of most wars in the first place).I think ideology is a very very risky thing, it's way worse than any drug...sure drugs can get you to steal or kill someone to feed your addiction but a religious or even political ideology is way worse, it can get people to put bombs in places and kill 5,000 of their fellow human beings just because someone had the idea to write that in a holy book :S.Ideologies are everywhere though not only in religions, I've tried to stop being an idealistic but it's very hard, to stop being an idealist you must first not have any ideas at all but that itself is a contradiction, your having the idea to tell yourself to not have any ideas at all, it's like a dog chasing it's tale.

I'm going to start a campaign to ban religious people from being incarcerated...I mean if they are going to suffer in hell when they die, why should we punish them in this life? let the serial killers and rapist go and the devil will take it from there. But no, cops do a good job, I'm not exactly the biggest rule follower but I respect policemen, I don't understand why everyone calls them pigs, filth ect...sure there's some bad apples but usually when your in a car accident or some axe murderer is decapitating your families heads, who are the ones helping you out? Besides...if you get caught its your own fault, may the best player of the cat and mouse game win, if there weren't any cops, doing rebellious things would lose its risk/thrill charm.

Don't get me started on the whole miracle thing, and the 'signs' hahaha, God is suppose to be like the supreme of everything yet to demonstrate his incredible abilities he makes the face of his son Jesus appear in a slice of bread? or an old wall..? or maybe your convinced more with the eye of Lady Of Guadalupe.... what is he like 12, isn't he a bit to old for practical jokes lol ? guess he has nothing better to do.
I know I'm being a bit cold here by analyzing everything with logic...us rationals sometimes diss religious people for their views and ideas of a God to feel they have some control over their lives and futures when they die, but we do the same thing, by analyzing everything rationally and trying to find a logical explanation about how or why things happen to feel somewhat more relieved/secure we trick ourselves into believe "know" why and therefore our minds stop asking.

I always wondered how the 72 virgins thing worked, Muslim terrorist believe they are motivated by the Koran to fight all the non believers, if they do and go to heaven, 72 virgins will be waiting for them (not in the koran but mentioned by Muhammad in a Hadith). My guess is that fathers of virgin girls tell them 'princess, you can never have sex for you must save your cherry so a terrorist can pop it (or blow it up, it's optional..)'.And what has started worrying me even more, if the bomber is a female, she would get 72 male virgins...should I be worried? :S
I'm afraid to answer the telephone now just in case they try and recruit me to be one of them virgins :.., actually I'm just generally afraid of telephones...I get all nervous and confused on them, for me it's like sea sickness...you get dizzy cause your inner eat feels movement but your eyes see nothing, on the phone I get anxious cause my ears hear someone but my ears see no one.

Sins remind me of Santa, 'be good sweety or you won't get any presents from Santa..' I was always told that, one day I thought to myself, 'lets see, 364 days a year of being good for one day of fun and pressies or be a naughty boy skip the presents but have a fun awesome time all year around...' decisions decisions...
I'm proud of my sins!, when Jesus was crucified there was a thief on each cross next to him, one thief started regretting everything that he had done and started asking Jesus for forgiveness, the other however didn't say word...he hang there and accepted his punishment like a man, whats the point of being a coward when you've already done the bad deeds? it's shameful really to start something with evil intentions and trying to take it back once you see its going wrong :S.
So then I started asking myself...why do people read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older? and it suddenly occured to me, they are cramming for their 'finals'. :)

Monks annoy me...what makes them any different from business men? They basically give up their lives, hair, clothing, processions and own will to behave like saints in exchange for enlightenment or to enter heaven...so it's basically a business transaction, I give you all this if you open the gates of heaven in return...
IM GOING TO HELL, yeah, I know, but rationally speaking, hell is a much more interesting place, who goes to heaven? most of them are goody two shoes who follow rules and lead a dull boring un adventurous life...I might be tortured bent over geting pineapples shoved up my ass (includes rotation) with Joseph Stalin next to me for hours, but just because they're bad and evil doesn't mean there not interesting characters...and if the whole 'God is watching' you thing is true, the least we owe our great creator is some entertainment worth for his money.I find it funny though that to go to heaven they actually bury your body 6 ft closer to hell :S.

Religion is spirituality for dummies, you're told what to do no questions asked.'Oh but Mr Matthew, I found the lord and he has showed me the way...' - 'did that drunk bastard get lost again? (thats the right word right? when your parents conceive you without getting married?)' You know what? I feel sorry for Jesuses 4 brothers (Matthew 13:55), can you imagine living under that shadow lol? 'mum mum I found a cure for cancer...' 'pfftt your brother was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities and died for our sins!' By the way, why does Jesus get so much glory, aren't we all gods children? oh wait wait thats right, he gets special treatment cause the rest of us are all his illegitimate kids..whoops! Wow this post is humongous,

I guess I should get to the point, we cannot mass change everybody, we can only change ourselves and hope others will come to the realization thats the right thing to do.I do respect peoples own beliefs and actually like most religious folks and get along with them really well cause some of them are the nicest and sweetest people I have ever met and have great moral values,  it's also nice to see the unity it creates (even if its just in between their own) but don't try and force your beliefs on me and I shall correspond in the same manner.

Thought of the day: I should smile more in pictures huh? it's not that I'm a sad or emo person lol clearly you can see that from all the quirkyness in my head but I never liked being hypocritical and smiling for no reason, I smile and laugh when I find something funny or amusing but if you put a camera in front of me just like that...my smile comes out looking forced and fake.

Life of Bryan = Hilarious. Love my Monty Python =P

They say you get 72 virgins when you get to heaven... hell, I can't find 5 vigins here on earth!

It was funny, and it made me giggle.

Though i've never labled myself an athesit, I have a hard time believing in God. esp. the God of Christianity. Love the blog. Kudos

Those who disbelieve have always cried out for proof, and have used this as their excuse not to believe. Now they are not only handed a few of thousands of proofs they have requested, but seeds of the word to go along with it. Christian blogs meant to edify, and encourage those who already believe are great. We need to feed and encourage one another. However they usually don't reach the lost with the word of GOD, or of HIS moving in the world they live in. Finally the most important thing for unbelievers to learn is that GOD loves them and will accept them just as they are today. Theres hope from hopelessness, sorrow turned to real joy, loneliness turned to comfort, addiction turned to deliverance, sickness, and disease turned to healing, death into life, blindness into sight, the old fleshly worldly nature turned into a spritual one. And it's all free. All that is needed is to ask for free forgiveness, and to accept and live for Christ instead of ourselves.

GOD--Proof Atheists Demand!!! The blog that tells what Christians know, and Atheists fear.

When I minimised this blog and then ran my cursor over it, it said "Jesus loves cunt". True story. :-o

Again, very well said, Matty. I knew there was a reason I'd some how managed to tolerate you for so long but now I realise it's cos we share a lot of the same views on such topics. Although I can't say my opinion relates to having experienced a whole lot of different religions like you have, my intuition just tells me that it's not for me.

sad how some ppl literally believe in metaphors

so funny!! lol i'm an athesit too, and have also gone through several religions, and to me they have just become the same nonsense as time has gone by. I realized I stopped believing one day when in church I was just making fun people's expressions in my mind...instead of praying as I should have been. It suddenly became a big show for me.lol
I think religions only create barriers between people, and restrict them from thinking in a higher level. We don't need a God...the power is all within ourselves. I enjoyed reading your blog, some parts reminded me of my own thinking =D

I think your blog is interesting. and I respect your views on religion and religious people. I am sad however that you have had such bad experiences with religion. I am a Christian and a strong believer, but I do challenge people to challenge the bible. But I must ask you read the entire things before judging a passage or a book on its own. And please do remember these books are the accounts of people, stories of miracles taken place on earth. They are historically factual. So believe what you must. I think you have an amazing sense of humor... Good luck with that. Try not to close your mind. God bless.

bomchikawowow! okay, my bad...I haven't been able to reply individually to each of the comments cause I'm in the middle of another crazy project so I'll just make a big one for all :)

Amanda: glad you got a laugh out of it, lol trust me I know how hard it is to find other virgins, and I love all monty python stuff :P

Crumpet : antoher python fan, we should make a group :-o

Cassiopeia: hehe thanks :) wow thats 3 virgins in one post lol

Ella May: :) why thank you, I'm wondering what your reasons are...?

Rebel Angel: indeedy, well I love to get people to think out of the box :)

Melissa: haha I wonder if the minimization was a sign? :-o there had to be a reason you kept replying to my messages :P

Milijana: haha lol everyone just accepts the metaphors without asking why? guess thats why they didn't like me at catholic school :S love the Friedrich Nietzsche quote :P

Yvonne: I really agree with you, religions are restricting a lot of people from bonding and creating invisible barriers that shouldn't be there, I hope not to many parts remind you of my thinking or your in trouble :).

Layney: thank you for commenting, I have gone through almost the entire bible (actually 3 different virgins of it) and still think the same way, however I do respect the fact that you stand up for your religions, its admirable, as I said I'm not some anti christ trying to bring down religions I just found that personally it doesnt suit me, and most of the things I wrote aren't suppose to be taken seriously, I loved the idea of writing a satirical post rather than making a serious one. :)

Oh man, many people could be offended by this blog, they don't like listening to the truth.
I agree with you in everything you say here, but I think it is just because the way each one is brought up. My parents didn't enrole me in any religion, I was given the opportunity to decide by myself when growing up, and I thank them fot that. I've investigated about different religions and I realise how many nonsense things they have, how much they have damaged the relations between humans. Well, the only gods which sound more real were the old Greeks, most of them used the power for their own benefit.
But many people prefer to follow what they are told to do, it is much easier to believe what other people say instead of having to discover it by yourself, we are still in a period of Illustration.
Anyway, if we are wrong, I'll see you in Hell.
Best wishes from Spain, Alksy.
P.S. Sorry for my poor English.

Religions are made by mankind, this is why they'll always have flaws.

Not to say they aren't interesting if you really look into them, though...many of the larger, powerful ones have many similar stories...and as for the Adam and Eve story and similar ones, I think that the Serpent was the good guy, however, I think he was one of a group of "creators/Serpents" that were really only manipulators and didn't want us to have "knowledge" which really meant a consciousness like they had. But then Prometheus...I mean the Serpent told us the truth and bang! the manipulators were fucked. So the other manipulators punished him and made themselves our Creator/God and that isn't the truth at all.

So then Who made them?

It's just a bit more complicated than sin and punishment really. It's all a bit more complicated than just us.

Interesting blog with much more thought in it than your average young guy usually has or human being for that matter.

Life of Brian is hilarious because it shows the ridiculousness (and tragedy) behind blind belief and one-upmanship for power that most religions become.

But I see no need to resort to atheism. There's definitely something strange going on....and the more people who use their precious consciousness so hard won the better for us all.

Your blog kicks ass. I'm not sure if you have heard of the 7 Sumerian tablets of Creation, which have recently been excavated. It's very interesting. It says that several thousands of years ago, aliens came down and genetically altered our DNA, making us a hybrid of alien and Neanderthal. The Sumerians and Mayans both mentioned this, and also mentioned the end of the calender in 2012 ... NOT THE END OF TIME. Two thumbs up (and two kudos) to you, sir!

I don't really know where to start on this, so I'll just say this post is amazing.

And there's nothing like 4 years of a Catholic school education to make you see the complete hypocrisy of Catholicism. No wonder I despise religion.

Very insightful post, I'm impressed ;)

I have said a million times myself that I would prefer to go to hell, because it would be so much more interesting then heaven. I mean how much fun could you have in a place when every gorram thing was bloody white and you have the allmighty spying on you 24/7 for the chance to kick you out on your arse and send you to hell when you do the slightest thing wrong. Just think of all the sights and sounds that await us in hell lol. Even if I have to spend eternity rolling s huge rock up a hill, or eating donut after donut at least I'd have something to do...

Your blogs are great and very interesting, I like your trsin of thought, Ciao

Hi u.

I mostly try not to go too deep into religion.
There are a lot of reasons for that.. but...

I've always had "faith" in my heart. As a child i've always been kinda lonely so most of the time i was brainstorming, even meditating while walking home alone from school (i came after years later what i was doing back then, while reading The book of secrets from Osho).
This even at age 8. I was keep on thinking... i had the questions of a philosopher in my mind all the time. Well it isn't such a surprise cause philosophy is asking questions like: where do we come from? where does the universum ends... etc. I don't find it weird if i child wants to know the answer for these questions.

Growing up in an extreeeeemely Atheist family (Atheist with a CAPITAL "A") wasn't really a fairy tale for a child like me.
I've always had something with God, Jesus. Thoughts about them were always hunting me in my head. I just always felt in my heart they ARE. That's pretty simple. OK, so we're here now.. i felt them, for me they are there. Cool. Next.

Probably because i grow up between people who only cursed if the subject GOD came up... i was always pretty lost. Couldn't really ask questions and the whole religion thingy was like a twilighzone to me for long.

Now i'm all grown up.. thank God i survived my abusive parents and others. ;)

I was reading a lot about religions and philosophy in my whole life. I figured almost every religion has got something wise.. and something evil in it. It's pretty much it. Me as individual got the chance to figure out what to begin with this fact. Still haven't stopped searching, it can be fun at times. The depressing part is that at moments i'm out of balance still gotta find my way out and there's no help really. Wouldn't it be great if there would be a religion that would lead you out of those dark moments? ;)
This suppose to be one of the functions of religion. Giving leading.. make things clear, black and white. :P
Yeah... Nah.... lol
U know, i know.. weird that some people still don't know.. but we people are just way too different for that.

This part in your blog caught my attention: The tree of knowledge.
What i figured on my own was:

Knowledge is power. God was right about not wanting to share knowledge with us on one side.
Think about things like:

- nuclear weapons (well weapons in general)
- money
- IVF (if u ask me, this whole "die hard baby creating business" is just BAD NEWS i believe buddhist aren't that happy with this neither. See: reincarnation, karma etc... the whole IVF and other baby creating possibilities are just a nightmare)

Well these were the things i could suddenly think of but i'm sure there are way more.
I find giving knowledge in people's hand was just as shakey as giving a knife in a 2 years old hands.

OK there are good things too in knowledge u might say. So that we know stuff and we're clever then. We got now airplanes, computers, cars etc...
Hmmm... i don't know. If u ask me i was alright with plan A:
Hanging around in paradise and walk around nude. Whatever. As long as you don't know it doesn't hurt. Nice and simple. ;)

Still i'm pretty sure it was the meaning that we would get this knowledge in hands. Why? Just because it happened. Still trying to figure it out. Maybe it's your part to come in with an explanation.

Good day Matti ;)

Hey....Thanks for the add request! Especially adding a gramma like me....haha! Great blog entry. I went through much of my earlier life experiencing various Christian denominations. I have no problem believing in God....a God that is basically "intelligent energy"....not a controlling, judgmental God like what's portrayed in the Bible. I consider that all religions are man-made. I consider myself to be a "free-spirit"....no religion for me anymore....just a journey through life going where my "heart" takes me.

hey, I have read through your blog... very interesting, for someone who doesnt believe in religion you ask alot of questions... and thats where it all starts...
I am an actual believer.. I believe in the bible.. I believe that God loves us so much and wanted to have a relationship with us that He created us for 'relationship' with Him and each other... Thats why He sent Jesus to die for our sins... coz sin seperates us from God, but now there is nothing stopping us from going to Him... Ok, this sounds farout.. but alot that you said about adam and eve etc, its about our Faith... you know, believing in what you dont see... Thats where believing in creation comes in.. Thats what its about.. Fear is based on man made religion.. and I agree with you that we shouldnt be bound in guilt and fear... and Jesus is NOT about that, against popular demand... He is about grace and mercy and freedom... He came to bring us life to the fullest... He wants us to enjoy life here on earth...anyway, I dont want to bombard you with my opinion.. you should read the bible maybe... but your blog is most intriguing... I hope you find the truth hey.. keep smiling and keep being u...

a very interesting blog, true too. religion is one of my favorite subjects to discuss, it's hard to find some one to discuss it with though. i've found that people tend to get very upset with you when you start ponting out all of the flaws in there religion, either that or they are stuborn and will not even admit that you have a point, either way, its not very much fun to argue with people or even to talk to them when they act like that :-)

You know, i actually agree with most of that. ok so most of the facts about christianity are wrong but i totally get your point about kids not getting a choice in religion. My family is like strict catholic (including extended family) which means i have to go to mass every sunday. Personally i hate it, but i cant just tell my parents i dont beleive in god, it wouldnt go down to well. besides i think religion gives people hope, although i kno that god doesnt exsist, sometimes its nice to fool myslef and think there really is a god, even just for a few mintues. neways... not entirly sure why i wrote this, but there u have it.

Wow. How very insightful. The part about ur nan reminds me of my mum. She used to drag me around to numerous religions too. Here's a nostalgic moment: Once in sunday school I got severly punnished for colourin-in a picture of Jesus blue. Hey, itwasn't my fault all those other kids hogged the cream-crayons! At the time I didn't understand the reason behind the punnishment. I was told not to ask questions and that what I had done was blasphemy..but was it? Has anyone ever seen Jesus? Since he's dead [supposedly] he might've been blue at some point...I like the logic u had when u were theorising the possibe reason behind religion the the fact that there had to have been a "creator". When are people going to just sccept the fact that it was made at the giant Ikea store and that's why there are parts missing. Nice job Matty. U've really given me some food for thought... Are YOU looking for a laugh? Check out Robot Chicken's 1st season. There's an awesome sketch in there showing Jesus using some of his famous mantras in times of bloody battle like, "Turn the other cheek" and "be meek". Classic shit. Rach

I had an email with the picture of buddy Christ from Dogma, I love that film and the title of this blog. Once in a guided meditation I was sending my cord down to the heart of mother earth, I was told there was someone there to take my cord and help me let go of any negative stuff I was holding onto that I was ready to let go of. As soon as she said that I saw a figure with their back to me and as he turned around it was this archetypal Jesus figure. I was not brought up with religion and was not sure what I really thought about the character, although I have often felt he may well have lived and been pretty special. I felt this absolute blast of love, I felt very humble and loved, tears slid down my face as I basked in this beautiful energy. Then as if I was looking at my computer monitor there was this email. I burst out laughing, but at least Jesus loves me eh?

I love the life of Brian, I had a life of Brian conversation with a friend a couple of days ago, he said he is thinking of becoming a Jehovah to avoid Xmas and I said it just makes me think of the life of Brian, he told me had just come home from visiting his bro Brian. I said he's not the messiah, he's just a very naughty boy. He said he'd just said to his sister about their bro not being the 2nd coming of the messiah and his nephew had been a very naughty boy....

I think we are all connected, some more than others and it doesn't matter what we believe so much as who we are and how we behave, which kinda puts paid to the exclusive clubs and their exclusion policies. Humanity is a group of people that includes all descriptions and belief systems who huddle in smaller groups, no one group of humanity appears to have got the answers all correct or all wrong. Some may have it more right than wrong but if it is elitist then they missed the point in my opinion.

the current theory that lots of christians seem to like that explains all the different races, is that .... tad dah! they were alien demon giants that came from that Planet X that's supposed to stop by again soon... seriously.. demons are the explanation you get from christians who try to explain the bible

noah's ark hey?... how did all the wombats and koalas get to australia? what did they all piggy back on the back of the kangaroos and wallabies? and no noah didn't make a stop over on the way to Mt Ararat, according to the bible australia would have still been under water when the ark came to rest...

only one third of the world are christians (if u dare to count the catholics that is) and according to lots of christians if u don't believe in jebus, then you go to hell when u die... this would put hitler in heaven and gandhi in hell by the way, but something like 150,000 people die a day... so 100,000 of those aren't christian, that's slightly more than one person a second that goes to hell according to these "loving" christians who claim that jesus loves everyone... the even more ridiculous thing is that of those people that died and went to christian hell, it's a fair bet that most of them never even heard of Jesus, and probably don't even have a "J" sound in their language! why do christians so nonchalantly believe if we don't believe in jesus we go to hell to be tortured for all eternity, frankly if that's fucking true, i'd rather not know about it.. and what sort of marketing tool is that in this day and age? seriously you say that to ppl these days and you are pretty close to getting a smack in the head

religion is a guilt trip. you have this original sin thing, but look here, religion has a dollop of Jesus to fix that.. nice how religion fixes the problems it creates in the first place? it's like a drug company that creates a disease that everyone gets and then they magically supply the only cure, which just gets you hooked on the drug to fix the disease, just to make sure you don't have a relapse, and the truth of the situation is that the drug is what causes the disease in the first place..

uhmm... 72 virgin what's? chickens? donkeys? cats? and if they were human, might they be just a whole bunch of foetuses that didn't make it to full term?

religion is for people who are worried that the sun might not rise tomorrow, irrational fears and things out of their control are quite easily replaced by an irrational being that controls everything..

Finally someone who gets my views on Religion. I think that unless you have done what we did. Like going through all the religions. They just don't understand. I think the true religion is believing that there is a higher power or powers that control how we came about. there has to be something out there for so many people from all over the world to believe. I mean there were religions before jesus christ came around. The Romans believed in the gods and goddesses from the ancient greeks and many still do. I'm not sure who the ancient Britons believed in but they believed. This was way before people started to branch. So how would their very similar religions spread? Something catastrophic must have happened that many many people have forgotten over the many years since the first organisms got to this planet.

i hate religions being pushed on me. I mean i love religious people but when they become pushy and try to push me into a religion i have to step away. Or they simply don't talk to me because i'm an agnostic (which many believe is the same as atheist). I understand most principles of most religions. Im working my way into the school district and trying to make a prayer room that i will never use. But the truth is that without the many religions we have, may we believe or not, The world would be a much more boring place than it is now. Although having theses beliefs in the Bible belt in oklahoma of all places is better kept quieted or i will have every god fearing bible pusher at my door.

Exquisitely written!! Complete and total agreement, one of the many faults of man is a closed mind, yes there are those, like you, who have decided to open their mind and see things from different angels, to investigate, to learn, to not approach things with a closed mind..

Loved it from start to finish!
