Kim Komando knows computers. She's been a computer guru since the days of MS-DOS and Windows 3.1. However, it's clear that Komando is a shill for greedy corporate tyrants who make proprietary software which enslave you to restrictive agreements.

Komando has been a staunch Microsoft advocate for well over 15 years, dating back to the days when MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 ruled the PC scene. However, these days Microsoft engages in criminal racketeering in an effort to achieve a legalized monopoly, and most of the products they put out these days frankly suck. Windows Vista is a colossal failure, and even The Inquirer (a UK newspaper, not the American tabloid) has reported on how Vista security "enhancements" were created in a co-collaboration between Microsoft and the NSA (National Security Agency). The NSA sucks at finding imaginary WMD's, but.....actually, the NSA sucks at everything.

For as long as I can remember, Komando has never had a good thing to say about GNU/Linux or free open-source software for that matter. In this article, Komando reviews several low-cost laptops, mainly the Asus eeePC and the Everex Cloudbook, both of which come with Linux. The Asus eeePC comes with a customized version of Xandros Linux which used the IceWM window manager as opposed to the KDE desktop environment which comes standard with the desktop/laptop version of Xandros. The Everex Cloudbook comes with a version of gOS Linux which uses the GNOME desktop environment, CompizFusion, and the AWN dock. In this article, Komando shows her disdain of Linux:

"However, Asus recently began offering Windows XP on the Eee. Go with
Windows instead of Linux. The operating system will be more familiar and
you'll avoid compatibility issues."

"The CloudBook uses a 1.2GHz VIA processor. Like the Eee, the CloudBook
runs Linux. Fortunately, Windows XP can be installed on it."

When somebody calls in to Komando's show with a Microsoft-related problem, Komando only offers solutions which are actually temporary fixes; they don't solve the root problem which is the Windows operating system itself, which has security holes deliberately put in by Microsoft and the NSA. She doesn't tell people "Get a Mac" or "Switch to Linux" beause her sponsors are all corporate types who reply on the Windows operating system to sell their products.

Komando train of thought is stuck in the days of past when installing and using Linux basically required a degree in rocket science. Folks, those days are over. We are in the days of easy-to-install and easy-to-use Linux. We are in the days of excellent cross-platform software such as Pidgin and GIMP and Amarok and Abiword and OpenOffice.org.

Lastly, the Kim Komando Show is primarily carried by ClearChannel, which carries corporate whore warmongers such as Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity. So why would you trust the computer advice from somebody who is associated with those neocon shills?

The computer industry is evolving, but corporate tyrants such as Microsoft and corporate shills such as Kim Komando just are not with the times. However, there will come a time when Microsoft and Komando will have to get up-to-date or risk being lost in the shuffle and becoming as extinct as the dinosaurs.
