Current mood:  mellow

Did merch last night for a wicked show at the Starlite room. Peter Elkas and Joel Plaskett. The place was as hot and packed as I've seen it in a long time. Peter Elkas as the opening act won over the considerable crowd and there was a singalong worthy of any headliner to finish off his set.

Joel Plaskett rocked the place. He played lots of the new record and plenty of "hits". The crowd was obviously loving every minute of the long set and three (four?) encores and there was so much crowd participation that even from the merch booth in the far back corner you could feel that love! The show was great, really tight,  and fun and loose at the same time.

I used to go see Joel Plaskett pretty religiously when I lived out east but haven't caught a live show in years... I will definitely be going to the next one, and Peter Elkas as well!

Thanks for the report. I saw Joel and Peter on May 18th at the Commodore and for sure, Joel rocked the place. He has such presence and a real unique way of presenting himself and his music. It was really a mixture of pop and rock and it reminded me of a classic style that has been around for a long time. It was nice to see Peter and he sang songs from his new album Wall of Fire. The sound system at the Commodore doesn't do justice to his musical talent, as his music sounds so much better on a CD.
